Things I found, things I am saving for winter Cory's Pinecone Mound Hi there! I found some treasures for you: Grumpy Monkey Grumpy Monkey is a delightful book full of cute illustrations. It's okay to be grumpy! And just because others want you to be happy, it does not mean you must be. The book recognizes that irritable feelings come and go. Sometimes the best solution for grumpiness is feeling validated. By Suzanne Lang Illustrated by Max Lang I finally decided to read some of the picture books I’ve been missing from The NY Times Bestsellers List. I read Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry and Why a Daughter Needs a Dad by Gregory Lang. I wrote about omitting pronouns from picture books and how What Riley Wore accomplished this. I took a class on SkillShare called Find Your Style: Exercises to Unlock Your Creative Identity . I loved it. Andy J. Pizza is a great storyteller, very self-aware. I thought this was a unique take on the subject of style. As a part of Thank You Thursday, I opened a group board for illustrators to share their art on Pinterest. If you want me to add you to the board, send me a DM on Pinterest. If you are on Tailwind , I started a community for Kid Lit Illustrators. Send me a message if you’d like me to add you to the community or search for the community on Tailwind . If you are not familiar with Tailwind , it is a Pinterest Scheduler, graphics creator, and online community for pinners. This week I want to share Sarah Dyer with you. She works in all sorts of mediums, including collage, and is a fantastic artist. “When your heart speaks, take good notes.” -Judith Exner The key to always having something to write about is good note-taking.
