SOUTHBRIDGE NEEDS YOU

ON THE CDD BOARD

Nelson Glueck is retiring from the Bay Creek CDD Board. Mary McVay, chair of the Bay Creek Board, expressed great appreciation for all that Nelson has done for our community and for Pelican Landing as a whole. Along with Ms. McVay, the Southbridge Board of Directors and all residents are grateful to Nelson for his work. Thank you, Nelson!

Ms. McVay encourages a Southbridge resident to apply for the position. The candidate must live in the Bay Creek district (http://www.pelicanlandingcdds.net/about.php), be a Florida resident, but does not have to reside here full-time, if he/she is willing to come to Florida or participate by telephone in the meetings on the fourth Monday of the month at 2 PM.

Landscape supervision of the common areas is CDD's most obvious responsibility, but the job is much broader than that. The Districts operate and maintain District-wide infrastructure improvements, including, but not limited to storm water management, street lighting, landscaping, irrigation, roadways, and parks.

If we want a voice for Southbridge in the CDD management, now is the time! Deadline to apply is Tuesday, November 26. 2019. There is no formal application. Send Resumes to Chuck Adams, CDD Manager, at [email protected]. The board will make its decision on December 2, 2019.

If you have any questions, please call Ms. Mary McVay, Chairperson at 239.495.7223 or Mr. James Janek, Secretary at 330.853.7630, Bob Travers, Vice Chairperson at 716.510.3121 or Don McBride, Secretary at 239.301.8220.

AFTER RECENT BOB CAT SIGHTING

Darla and Bob Landgren, who live on Tralee Court, spied a prowling bobcat from their second story lanai on Sunday, November 17. They were able to get several good photos with their cell phones. Darla thinks it may have been a young cat, with its mother concealed in the shrubbery.

HOMEBASE SWFL GOLF TOURNAMENT DRAWS FULL              HOUSE FOR VETERANS' HEALTH CARE

The Homebase SWFL golf tournament was held Monday, November 11, and raised over $160,00 including in-kind donations and raffle prizes. Money supports free mental health and physical fitness care for local veterans and their families. Southbridge residents purchased a sign expressing their gratitude to veterans for their service; the sign was posted on the golf course.

The event was oversubscribed with a waiting list; 232 golfers played on the two 18-hole golf courses at the Nest. Southbridge resident and chairperson Pat Phalen reports that participants are already expressing  plans to return for next year's play on November 9, 2020.

Southbridge resident Barb Visco won a foursome of golf at Stonybrook in the raffle.

The CASE of the MISSING MAH JONG TABLECLOTH

Seasonal Mah Jong play is about to begin. One of the tablecloths is missing from the library. If you borrowed it and have forgotten to return it, please do so as soon as possible. The tiles are breakable and can scratch the glass tables. A replacement cloth is $55.

MISCELLANEOUS REMINDERS:

  • Please do not feed any of the wildlife, including the pair of ducks that occasionally wander into Southbridge and soil the pool deck. We do not want to encourage them to stay.

Although nonresidents may receive the newsletter, only residents have access to the private pages on the Website.
  • Check your listing in the residents' contact information on the Website. Bill Riley updates it regularly. You will need access to the private pages to read the contact information. You can request access by going to the Login/Register tab on the Website.
