December 15, 2018 Mindful News Broward Homeless and the Fort Lauderdale Women's Club Many of you have attended our silent retreats at the Fort Lauderdale Women's Club and became painfully aware of the plight of the homeless, as their encampment has been adjacent to where we practice. Now, the encampment is officially closed, and homes were found for the homeless in our community, with the help of the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, business leaders such as Auto-Nation and Castle Group, the United Way of Broward County, and changes being made in the Broward County Circuit Court. Now, the homeless in Fort Lauderdale have a place to live, regardless of their ability to stay sober or drug-free. And Jo Ann Smith (left), president of the Fort Lauderdale Women's Club , can spend more time addressing other civic, educational, cultural and humanitarian needs in our community.
