Summary

Very mild for most of the week with strong and warm winds settling what was up there pretty hard Monday through Thursday. However, Friday night was a bit of a game changer for those out riding on Saturday with reports ranging from 6-12" on the Northern areas and 3-6" on the South. Between the new snow and the wind moving it wherever it wanted to move it...most people we talked to last night (Saturday) said they found really decent powder, up to about bumper depth, in the trees and lower wind protected/padded valleys. Storm on the horizon for tonight estimating another 5-10" inches. If we hear what actually comes of it, we will put out another update ASAP.

Picture taken 1/16/2021 - Snowy Range, Wy

1/16/2020 - Wow, what a difference between Friday and Saturday! Tracks were fairly well covered up everywhere we went and most of our time on the backside was in bumper deep snow. Visibility could've been better, but pleasantly surprised how much it changed in 24 hours with barely anything falling at the lodge (Old Corral).

1/15/2020 - The snowies really need a fresh hit of snow. Everything up there is tracked up or getting a crusty top to it. We found some "ok" stuff if we stayed in the trees, but it took some looking.

1/10/2020 - Just did a half day today and a full day yesterday (Saturday) Little bit of fresh snow overnight last night and things at the heart of the mountain due to the crowds this weekend are pretty well tracked up. But once we got off the beaten path and searched a little we found really decent stuff. Was pleasantly surprised to see as much snow as there was. Hearing from other riders that had reported to be in the area just last week, they made it sound terrible. So much that I expected to spend a good portion of the days riding gravel/dirt/rocks trying to find anything...but I wanted out regardless. TOTALLY NOT THE CASE. Was enough snow on the front to traverse over to the back and once we were there, it was bumper deep most places. Not saying it couldn't use a tad bit more base, especially on the front side, but definitely not as bad as I was hearing and more than enough for us to have fun with.
