The Ensuring Quality Care (EQC) Experience: 3 Key Findings
For nearly a year, I have regularly communicated with the many EQC students who attend our courses. I first began by calling students before the class began and delivering important information about the course so students were ready to begin on day one.
For the past month, I've been co-instructor of the course, gaining a more in-depth look at the learning community of students as they travel from start to finish. What an honor!
Here are 3 key findings about our EQC participants from my experience I would like to share with you:
1.) Commitment - Our team recognizes the commitment EQC requires, and we are consistently amazed at the level of commitment we see in students who show up, do all of the work, are eager to learn, who ask questions and share how they think and feel about the learning process. This takes time, which we know is typically the biggest challenge all students who have busy lives face. We still continue to see people dedicate themselves and commit to the time required to be successful.
2.) Passion - We have the privilege of meeting and spending time with wonderful people from many different walks of life. We find one important common aspect found in the students is the passion they bring to the EQC learning community. Our team often discusses how incredible it is teaching students who have such passion to serve others and passion to continue learning so they can provide the best care possible.
3.) Growth - Like any class, when you have the information needed, the right guidance, the resources and tools required, passion to learn, the goal to be gained, and the time needed is made...this is where real growth in a student occurs, and this something we see time and again in the students who take our EQC classes.
I am happy to report how through my experiences with EQC over the past year, I find the future of ensuring quality care in adult care homes in Oregon looks bright.
