If you live in Boulder, mark your calendar for the City of Boulder's "What's Up Boulder" event. This informative, interactive and fun event will be held at Foothills Community Park on Sunday, September 10 from 1:00-3:30 pm. There will also be activities at the location of a future park on Violet Avenue, 1/2 mile away. Growing Up Boulder will be at the Violet Avenue site, facilitating nature play and park visioning activities. Meanwhile, our young people from the City's Youth Opportunities Advisory Board (YOAB) and our colleagues from UNICEF USA will be at the Foothills Community Park location sharing information (and gathering input) about Boulder's Child Friendly City Initiative. Free dessert, face-painting, music by DJ Musa Starseed, and much more… see you there!

Honoring Lou Surden

Picture

Lou Surden, featured with beloved wife of 55 years, Marjie Surden

Lou Surden, the beloved father-in-law of GUB Executive Director, Mara Mintzer, passed away on August 4.  In honor of his life and legacy, his family asked that people wishing to donate give to Growing Up Boulder.  This request could not be more fitting or moving.  Lou was a cheerleader for Growing Up Boulder, and his support and pride about all that GUB has become was emblematic of his care for family, community, and goodness in the world.  From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all who donated in Lou's honor.
