Mini spring update Enjoy the energy of spring! Bluebells, celandines, ground ivy, violets, wild garlic and primroses are all greening the woodland floor; buzzards, wrens, robins and skylarks call out while I've been working below them. While I haven't been able to run groups and activities, I have been lucky enough to spend time working in the woods, improving access and shelter, and making plans to share the beautiful spaces with you. I know how desperate people are to get out and enjoy the great outdoors - the events that I provisionally advertised in January booked up within days! There are now a few spaces and a few extra dates to book - see below. I am keeping group sizes very small, to ensure we can keep well spaced and use separate equipment. I'm looking forward to welcoming a lot more learning groups to the woods and fields, expanding my home educators provision and the toddler experiences. These are full now, but you can always ask to be on the waiting lists. More news soon, lots of projects on the go, but I just wanted to let everyone know what was available to book at the moment, to give you a chance to feel the joy of being out in nature, especially in glorious spring. Spring EVENTS Up with the Lark - extra dates Fri 9 and Sat 10 April 6am - 7.30am Walk through the woods learning to pick out different birdsongs, then continue onto the downs to listen to the larks as you enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and croissants. £6 per person, 8 to adult Eastbourne Dens and dinos - extra date Sunday 25 April 1pm - 2.30pm Dinosaurs roam these woods! Be a brave explorer, build a den and a dinosaur trap, dig for dinosaur remains, follow the huge footprints, make a fossil dinosaur to take home and celebrate with hot chocolate. £9 per child 3-11 Puddingham Wood Easter Bunnies - extra date Wednesday 7 April 2.30pm - 4.30pm Help Peter Rabbit find the Flopsy Bunnies in the wood and play some games. Make an Easter bunny to take home; cook a chocolatey treat on the fire. £9 per child 4 - 11 Puddingham Wood Brilliant bugs Friday 16 April 10.30am - 12noon Rummage in the woods for all kinds of bugs - who can find the most legs? Learn who they are, what they eat and how they live. Make a bug biscuit to nibble and a model bug to take home. £9 per child 4 - 11 Puddingham Wood All the events listed will be subject to the relevant restrictions, and may have to be postponed if the rules at the time do not allow them. [email protected] PUDDINGHAM WOOD AND THE HOLT ARE NEAR FOLKINGTON, SUSSEX THE BLUEBELL WOOD AND ABBOTS WOOD ARE IN ARLINGTON, SUSSEX Coming up at Folkington: Fairy Fest, Bug Hunt, Snails and Whales, Harvest Festival, Summer Camp, Field Forage Coming up at The Bluebell Wood: Bluebell Suppers, Tree Tales, Wild Stitch, Woodland Fungi, Chestnut Celebration, Wreath Workshops WOODLAND PARTIES Make a birthday party truly magical and memorable by holding it in the wild woods. With shelter, toilet and plenty of seating, a cooking fire and special props, it's all set for a perfect celebration. When restrictions allow, which is hopefully after May 17th, parties can be held at the little wood at Folkington, all year round. Parties cost from £130 for an hour and a half for up to twelve children and can be on almost any theme you like. I can also run parties for grown-ups! WOODLAND ESCAPES There are a few slots available for a Woodland Escape, a personalised event for you in the spring countryside. Up to 5 people can join me in the woods, after 29th March, for cooking, play, stories, making, wildlife identification or just exploring and hanging out round the campfire.
