Jerome Country Club Club News October 2018 | Volume 20 | Issue 34 October Calendar of Events Monday 1st & Tuesday 2nd - Men's Day Championship Results Saturday 6th - ICGA Meeting and Golf From the Pro Troy Vitek Fall is certainly in the air and what a wonderful time of year for golf. JCC is in great condition. Thanks to Bart Brandel and the Crew. The Golf events in September were great. Congratulations to John and Bonnie Knapple for their victory in the Club Chapman Championship. The Chapman Committee does a great job each week and Thank you to Steve and Kay Feldtman for organizing the tournament, and to the Chapman Committee for all of their efforts thru the season. The womens “Eclectic” Invitational was fun for all. The womens association, Marta Lemoyne / Mary Lou Alves and the tournament committee hosted another wonderful event. Thank you to all of the volunteers and players for making it a great time. The Michelob Best Ball hosted a full field of Mens , Womens and Couples Flights. Thank You Steve Meyerhoeffer / Travis Hofland and the Staff at the Twin Falls GC for teaming up with us for this great event. The Tournament rotation will not include JCC in 2019 (Canyon Springs/TF Muni) but we will pair with Canyon Springs for the 2020 Michelob. The Mens and Womens Leagues have Completed the 2018 Competition. With the exception of the last few matches of the mens individual match play championship. Randy Rogers and Brian Parks will battle for the Championship and Bill Britton and Bruce Harmon will determine the consolation championship. Thank You to Missy Wignall and Patty Stumpf for the organization of Womens Twilight. And to Rob Mikesell and the Mens golf association for Hosting the Mens Twilight League. The Mens Day Championship will be contested Monday / Tuesday Oct 1-2. Thank You to Paul Fraijo and the Tuesday Mens Day Committee for their efforts. Be sure to check out the fall stock in the golf shop. We still have a wide selection of golf equipment and clothing. Much of the current inventory has been discounted. Many members still have golf shop credit accumulated from victories this season burning a hole in your pocket. Please Remember to Spend your Tournament Credit by November 15th. See you in the Golfshop. Troy Vitek, Jerome CC-PGA Ladies Association Mary Schmidt Our Eclectic Tournament held the first week of September was a huge success. Ladies from all over the area joined in the play. There were several hole-in-one challenges among the many extra events. Thanks to our members who met under the direction of Patti Stumpf and Missy Wignall to make the tee prizes, Barb Reynolds who outdid herself with fantastic decorations and Pauline and Ray who provided a most delicious dinner and lunch. Most of all, thanks to our Chairwoman Marta LeMoyne. She orchestrated the entire event. Golfers of the Month for September are: First Flight Sherry Marona; Second Flight Dee Dee Gott/Becky Hazen; Third Flight Norma Jensen; Nine Holers Janet Key/Naomi Stansell. Congratulations ladies! **Player of the Year will follow our October 3rd meeting. At the General Meeting, October 3, at 9:30 am, there will be election of officers. The officers nominated are Marta LeMoyne President, MaryLou Alves/Dixie McClain Vice President, Diane Philbin Secretary, Babe Hansen Treasurer, Lari Hash Director and Rexann Wheeler Director. Course Improvement News One of our goals for raising money was to design and build a new practice area. Well, we did it! Bart Brandell and Troy Vitek put their heads together and made an awesome plan. Bart got right to work creating and growing a new green. The new practice area will be perfect for chipping, pitching, and sand practice. Thank you Bart!! The money needed for this project comes from the money raised at the Summer Smash golf tournaments and money donated to have your deceased loved ones name on our memorial sun. The Summer Smash 2019 will be on June 15th. Save the Date! We have a hilarious comedian booked for the event after a fun golf tournament. We also have a silent auction planned.
