Our Programs

Bike Valet
Did you park your ride with us at the Downtown Chico Christmas Preview? We are focussed on keeping you pedaling this season and one of the ways we do that is being present at local events with free and secure bike valet parking. Learn more about the Bike Valet here and keep your eyes peeled because the valet will return to the Chico Certified Farmer's Market on Saturdays very soon!

Adopt-a-Path
We now have 6 partners who have adopted local Class I Bike Paths and are conducting regular clean-up and maintenance days. We want to give a special thank you to CSU, Chico CAVE ProgramSierra Nevada Brewing Co., Klean Kanteen, PAUL Component Engineering, Women on Wheels North Valley Ride Club, and Butte County Sheriff Search & Rescue for all of the hard work and hours they've put into their paths. Every work day makes our community a safer, more accessible and beautiful place to ride a bike!

TrailWorks
It has been a busy time for our TrailWorks program and regional partners. In early November, we hosted a Middle Trail Work Day where over 15 community volunteers joined us to rebuilt multiple drains on the trail and even added a few more. Drains are critical for Upper Park trails because they allow water to exit the trail rather than run down it which causes erosion and gullies. Always remember to check if trails are open to ride by checking trail status on the City of Chico's website and watching the signs posted at trail heads.

Why Give to Chico Velo?

Chico Velo provides services and resources to the region that are not offered by any other organization. We are dedicated to promoting cycling and alternative transportation in our community through education and outreach and is actively involved in any and all legislation and infrastructure developments that help make our region a cleaner, healthier, safer and a more enjoyable place to live. We aim to ensure we can all experience the freedom and joy that a bicycle can provide and have an opportunity to ride a bicycle in a safe and comfortable environment.

For more than 35 years, proceeds from Chico Velo’s events and donations from members, sponsors, and partners, have provided 100% of funds needed to implement our programs. In 2020 and 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Chico Velo was unable to host The Wildflower Century Ride which traditionally draws 3,500 riders and is one of the longest century rides in California. Your contributions directly benefit bicycle and active transportation advocacy, education and stewardship in our region for the current and future generations. We would not be here without the generosity of our donors, members, and community.
