Hill Country Pastor Greg Young to Speak

Greg Young, a nationally syndicated radio talk show host and Hill Country pastor, will speak to Star Republican Women members, associates and guests at the SRW General Meeting Tuesday, May 17 at Quail Point Lodge.

A light lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and the program will commence at 1 p.m.

Young was an entrepreneurial businessman for 22 years and, after experiencing a near-death illness, decided to become a minister and a vocal advocate for conservative public policy consistent with his religious principles.

Pastor Greg hosts a radio show called Chosen Generation that airs on stations throughout the country.  “I felt and still feel very strongly that the Hill Country and Texans as a whole need to be awakened to the fact that Texas is going the way of California,” says Young.  “This all out war on Texas and the values held by our founding fathers must be opposed.  What sets Chosen Generation apart is the unapologetic focus on the principles that made this nation great.”

Young calls himself a black robe regiment-style pastor.  What is the Black Robe Regiment?  The “Black Regiment” was a group of patriot-preachers from virtually every protestant denomination located throughout Colonial America at the time of America’s fight for independence who courageously preached the Biblical principles of liberty and independence.  In 2010 at a “Restoring Honor” rally in Washington DC, media commentator Glenn Beck announced the re-creation of “a revolutionary force called the Black Robe Regiment.”

Young is a father of five children ages 26 to 8 and has been married for 28 years to a “Texas gal.”  In addition to his radio show, Pastor Greg is the leader of the Ignite the Fire Group in Kerrville that hosts a monthly program featuring a variety of political leaders and clergymen.

More about HOPE Hause and items you can contribute.

Caring for America Committee Continues Efforts to Assist HOPE Haus in Llano.

Members are asked to bring items to the May 17 meeting to support HOPE Haus.

There is an immediate need for contributions of meat products or cash contributions to buy these food items.

In addition, HOPE Haus will be raising funds through a garage sale in the Fall.  You can bring items to the May, September and October meetings to contribute to this fundraising effort.  So when you are cleaning out your garage or home, don't discard unwanted items.  Bring them to SRW to help those in need at the HOPE Haus.

Mary Lou's Message

This week a number of your Star Republican Women fellow members will be attending the Texas GOP Convention.  I am honored to be serving as a delegate myself,  a first for me.  I will be joined by convention veterans Gennie Ward, Kathy Hussey, Charlotte Hewitt and Sandra Thompson.

Our associate members Bill Hussey, Jay Ward and Ron Hewitt will also be attending.  And Ron is campaigning to be elected this week as a delegate to the national convention to be held in Cleveland in July.  He certainly has my support!

We are looking forward to a great convention, where delegates can come together to create a platform that serves well the Republicans of Texas and can serve as a model for the rest of the country.

Unify!  That is my objective at the convention and as your president of Star Republican Women.  We must embrace all Republicans.  We must respect diversity of race, thought and experience.  Most importantly, we need to return to the values and principles on which our forefathers developed our great nation.

We must unify in order to strengthen our Party and to ensure victory in November -- to regain the White House, retain a Red Congress and a Red Texas Legislature!  And to ensure that conservative justices are appointed to the Supreme Court.

After our May 17 meeting, Star Republican Women will adjourn for the summer months.  Starting back in September, we will present you with a number of opportunities to help us register voters, support Republican candidates and get out the vote for November elections.

This is not the time to be complacent.  There is too much to lose to "sit out" this election.  Not actively participating in supporting GOP candidates is equivalent to supporting the Democrat opponents.

In other words, a non-vote for the GOP presidential candidate is like voting FOR Democrat Hillary Clinton.

I ask that you join me and pledge that you will support and vote for our Republican Presidential Candidate and other Republicans seeking office in Texas.
