From Our President

It’s time to get serious about your golf game! The course is in great shape. It weathered the winter well. I’m still not sure why some members drive very close to the greens.  There are distance markers on each green to help you.
Clean up day is April 13th, 9:00 o’clock. Please plan to come and help.  We will be painting, sodding, divot filling, and other fun chores. Lunch and golf will follow. I predict good weather and a fun time.
Our reciprocal deal with Clear Lake Country Club has been expanded. On days when our course has a tournament you can play at Clear Lake. A schedule will be posted on the website by April first.
Try as we may, the board can’t find a practical and economical way to create a single membership. The board has tabled any further discussion. It was great to have members come to the meeting and state their input to our process. Sixteen members came to the meeting. Thank you for caring and reading the newsletter!

April marks the beginning of the season for golf events at JCC. The Mens and Womens Associations will start weekly playdays. With the beginning of leagues and tournaments players should be making themselves familiar with the changes to the rules of golf made by the USGA in 2019. The Players edition of the rules of golf is available thru the USGA and we have copies in the golfshop. There is also an APP Available from the United States Golf Association that may be downloaded to your smart phone. The USGA website is another very useful resource for Rules and other golf information.

Reciprocal agreement with Clear Lake CC continued for 2019:

The agreement will allow JCC members to play golf at CLCC without paying a green fee on specific dates during the 2019 Season, and will allow CLCC Members the same playing privileges at JCC on dates that have been agreed upon by both clubs for. The Dates have been determined by the availability of Tee Times at each club, and are chosen to give club members an opportunity to play when their home clubs availability is limited by a golf event. Those wishing to participate must make reservations through their home golf shop and are allowed to schedule one week in advance.

Dates that JCC Members May schedule a Tee Time and play as a member at CLCC:

April 6,15
May 11, 13, 14, 20
June 3, 9, 16, 23
July 6,7, 8, 13, 27, 28, 29
August 12, 31
September 3, 4, 12, 13, 16

Mens Twilight Teams Please Turn In Team Roster/Schedules by April 1.

Mens Twilight League Captains may pickup 2019 schedules in the golfshop. Please return the team roster and schedule so that we are able to organize the Season Schedule for the first night of twilight league matches. League will start Thursday April 11th.

Ladies Twilight captains will receive the 2019 letter/schedule in April. Please notify Patty Stumpf of changes to current teams, and any new players who wish to play please contact them or speak with us in the golfshop.

As many of you know, when we host large outside tournaments, the club does not have enough rental carts to accommodate the number of players in these events. Stop in to let us know if you are interested in allowing us to rent your carts to the players in these events, we would greatly appreciate it. When your carts are used the rental fee can be paid to you in either cash or golfshop credit.

The 2019 Junior Golf Program start date is June 6th. The Junior golfers will meet for instruction and to play golf on Tuesday and Thursday Mornings in June. The schedule will be available and Signups will begin May 8th. We will also support a 12 Player PGA of America Junior League team. Players are 9 to 13 years of age. The League is formatted similar to little league baseball and other area clubs will field teams. Signups will begin online April 10.

The Rocky Mountain Section PGA Pro Am and Pro Lady Schedule is in full swing. If you would like to participate in any of the local or regional Pro Ams, contact me or you will find the Schedule / Sign Up Sheets on the Bulletin Boards and in the Golf Shop.

Spring is here and summer just around the corner so it’s time to dust off the clubs and start playing golf. The first day of the season starts on April 3rd. I hope the weather cooperates and gives us a nice day to play.

Tee time is 10:00a.m.for the months of April and May but you need to be signed in by 9:30a.m. There will be meeting at 9:30 followed by Golfer of the Month. Bring your ideas and suggestions for our association to the officers and Board of Directors. We want this to be a fun year with our fellow golfers.
