“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.” (Psalm 150:6)

On Monday the government announced their roadmap out of lockdown. Although, there is a long way to go and nothing is certain, there is a very real prospect of normal church services with no social distancing restrictions in place at the end of June. We can truly begin to think about Post-Covid church!

Over the last few weeks we have been looking at the key aims of the church: Prayer, Care and Share as part of a series called: 'Post-Covid Church: What kind of church is God calling us to be?'

In the next few weeks we will be looking at three areas that we are keen to reimagine and reignite as we come back together as a church:

  • Praising Creatively
  • Loving Locals (Showing compassion to our communities).
  • Growing Faith (Helping our children and young people to grow up in the faith).

We are forming three Reimagine and Reignite Teams to work out how we can develop these areas of our church life as we come out of lockdown. It has been great to see some coming together virtually to think imaginatively about how we truly can be the kind of church God is calling us to be in these areas.

This week we begin with praising creatively. While we look forward to praising God together in the church building in song once more, we can also give thanks for all those who in various ways have contributed so much to our online services. They truly have helped to enable us to be a church that continues to praise God creatively - despite the Pandemic!

Do consider if you could contribute to the opener for this Sunday's service. We simply want you to video yourself saying what your favourite hymn or song is. See prayer below for more details.

Update on Recent Announcements

This Sunday there will be a short video interview with Claire Coleman who will be joining us as a curate in July as part of our online service.

Also hot off the press, I now have the date of my licensing to be Priest in Charge at St. George's: Tuesday 27th April, 7pm.

Join us this Sunday as we focus on Praising Creatively. The reading is Psalm 150.

Please read on...

Compassion in the Philippines

Our Sunday Club and some members of our church support children who live in the Philippines through the work of Compassion. This short video tells us how through the local churches this support is working during the Pandemic.

Have you considered writing a mini-autobiography?

Fay Hatton was getting bored during lockdown so she decided to do something different. She wrote a short autobiography: 'From birth to pandemic.'

This seems like a great idea and activity to do if you are feeling bored. It is also good to read about other people's lives. So if you would like to do this, then we can create a page on our website and make available church member's mini-autobiographies to whoever wants to read them. Why not get writing and send yours in?

Last Week's Talk:

Share (Acts 6:1-7) - Available Online

For the early church their key aim and priority was to spread the Word of God about Jesus. In Acts 6, however, they run into problems and have to reassess their priorities. What can we learn from the attitude and behaviour of the early church that will help us as a church today to open our mouth and share God’s Word?
