James H. Sweat Foundation Newsletter - Edition 2

The JHS Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded on the principles of my great grandfather, James Henry Sweat. He believed that children and the elderly were the people who drove the world – children because they are the future and the elderly because of their wisdom.

We want to thank you for your support! Some of you have volunteered your time, others have donated funds to support our causes, and many of you have supported us with your prayers. We are grateful for all of your efforts in all that we do!

A word from Anthony

Wow! 2020 is nearing the end and even though I don't think anyone is mad about it, we still have time to help others in the community

I hope you find this newsletter helpful and convenient.  In this volume you will see our back to school drive at Gateway Park was a great success. Even though cut short by rain, we were able to pass out over 100 book bags.  Many thanks to Columbia County Parks and Rec, and all of the vendors and sponsors. Special thanks to RecTeq, who donated our raffle item, an RT700 grill which was won by Justin Annis,

September means school is back in session. Clearly not like we want it, but if we all keep doing our part, safe conditions and school as we know it will return. Food 4 Kids is in full swing and fundraising has been hampered because of the pandemic. Please follow the link below if you would like to help.

I am thrilled to announce the Keila Clark Scholarship is back.  Be sure to check out that information on our website.

This newsletter edition is dedicated to Dacia Walker. Dacia is my cousin who was more like my sister.  In late August Dacia lost her battle with COVID-19 at the young age of 42.  She was a proud supporter of JHS and one of my biggest fans.  I will love and miss her always. Prayers for all of you who have had similar experiences.

With or without this virus, kids don’t have to live with hunger. Always remember, "unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better".
