Happy Spring to all our LBCC members and friends!  

The bluebonnets are great and it's a wonderful time to get outdoors, which we will be doing this weekend!  April 12, 13, & 14 we kick off our annual gun raffle at the Burnet Bluebonnet Festival.  We will be at the festival all weekend at booth W22 on Washington Street in  front of the First State Bank, across the street from the courthouse.  

We are offering chances to win a Henry Golden Boy youth model 22cal., an American Ruger 6.5 w/scope, and a Baretta A-300 12ga. Camo model.

Members of our Scholarship Committee are busy reviewing essays submitted from high school seniors at Marble Falls, Llano, Burnet high schools and Faith Academy.  One student from each of the four schools will be awarded a $2000 scholarship to the collage of their choice based upon their essay submission.  We wish good luck to all participants.  LBCC is very proud to contribute to the youth of our surrounding communities in this fashion.

We have filed an application with Texas Parks & Wildlife for a permit to introduce hybrid striped bass into Lake Buchanan within the next 60 days. This will probably take place between May 3rd & 12th.  In conjunction with the application we will be doing an in-person presentation to the Llano County Commissioners Court on April 22nd to apply for a Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant in the amount of $5461.  The grant will fund the purchase of the one million hybrid striped bass fry.

Once all the above is approved we will need volunteers and 3 or 4 boats to distribute the fry across the lake.  It is a fun project.  If you would like to assist and have some fun please let us know.

We continue our support of the Faith Angler Network (FAN) youth fishing tournament on our lake.  Their latest tournament here was on March 2nd. It wasn't the best day for a tournament.  One not so successful angler commented "....it was rough, cold and slow"; but it was a big a great tournament nonetheless.   Ron attended the weigh-in and again this year LBCC donated $500 to help the organization fund the scholarships it offers to the young fishers. We end with a plea for you to help support the ‘Best Little Library in Texas!', our neighbor up Hwy 261, the Lakeshore Library.  They are offering engraved memorial bricks to be installed in the walkway as a fundraiser to improve the library meeting room.  This is a great way to honor families and individuals with a permanent installation at the library.  For more details please visit the library or call 325-379-1174.
