What is happening at Rock Hollow Woods?

Nature at Home

Rock Hollow Woods misses you dearly, but the great news is that there is SO much that your children (and you too!) can still do to experience and discover the natural world. We encourage you to keep exploring while respecting social distancing and please share with us the ways your family is getting outside! Don't forget to #rockhollowwoods!

There is a new addition to our Rock Hollow Woods website called Nature at Home which offers remote guided learning while experiencing nature at home. You'll find nature tips on outdoor play, nature journaling, honeybees, birds, and more! These fun activities can also be found on our social media platforms, so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Enrollment is still open for our Nature Pre-K Program for the Fall of 2020, so reserve your spot today!

Nestled among 77 acres of Rock Hollow Woods, our Nature Pre-K Program immerses children in the outdoors. Through hands-on discovery and inquiry-based learning, children will explore, discover, and grow with all that nature has to offer. We believe that play is an essential method of learning and are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach*. Children will be exposed to a wide variety of educational opportunities that encourage self-expression, communication, logical thinking, and problem-solving, all while preparing them for the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical challenges of kindergarten.

Our Nature Pre-K Program is appropriate for children ages 4 to 5 (Pre-K.) It will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 - 11:30, running from September 2020 through May 2021.

Rock Hollow Woods is very happy to be the recipient of a $4,100 grant that was awarded to us by The Youth Advisory Board of Berks County Community Foundation and Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading. This grant money will be use to continue renovating and remodeling our Learning Center Barn to make it a year-round indoor facility for environmental programs when the weather is too severe to be outdoors. Thank you for being our silver lining this month!
