Dear All,
I've come to realise these last few months that a calling without perseverance will become a faint whisper. But strangely and beautifully, it is this whisper that actually inspires perseverance.

Once in a while we have the opportunity to step back and take a look at things from a different view. To take a deep breath, and then another, just to feel what rest can be. I have read that in this time that some call a sabbatical, all that is important will be found in quietness and waiting. To be honest this frightens me, the quietness and waiting that is, but I know deep down I need to spend time experiencing the presence of God in the company of my family, and in the quietness of non-ministry life. As I step back from ministry for a few weeks I will be reflecting on how wonderfully faithful this church community has been over the most challenging of times. As I switch off the phone, and the email, and shift perspective for a while I will note how deeply moved I have been, and still am, by the extraordinary good will, faith, and understanding that you have shown.

It is no surprise that in this week we will be reading together the words of Jesus; words that speak truth, as they always do, into our common life; 'peace be with you' Jesus says. In light of the reading from Luke, Ruth and I send our peace to you, and we know we leave with yours warmly given and gratefully received.

One last thing. During the next 4 months Patrick, Janette, Debbie, Rowley and Jane would love to hear from you, and they would love to see you. With in person services now back, and singing permitted outdoors, the whole ministry team are keen to share the same space with you over the coming weeks, to share in fellowship, prayer and worship. There will be Holy Communion services every other week, and non-communion services in the Sunday's between. In addition to this an online service will continue until we can translate that gathering to an in person service later in the year. The church leadership are keen to ensure that our gatherings remain safe and welcoming for you all, so do please be in touch if you have any concerns or questions regarding our safety measures and gatherings.

Peace be with you. And God bless.

Lifehouse Project News

Picture

The Lifehouse Project has officially started the tendering process for main builder contractor. The first stage of this process has been completed with several companies responding to our initial opportunity posting. Multiple companies have been selected for the next stage of tendering process, which will conclude in the awarding of the Lifehouse project contract to a single company. Additional updates will be provided to the church as this progresses. The team are still working hard to fill the significant funding gap for the project but we press on in the hope and faith that all will come to fruition. Please keep the project in your prayers.

The team thank everyone who participated in the 24hr Prayer Event on Maundy Thursday.

Prayers

We pray for the Pioneer Minister Vacancy.
We pray for the vaccination programme.
We pray for the Lifehouse project funding, and the tendering process which is currently underway.
We pray for Richard, who was in an awful car crash and is in a critical condition in a London hospital.
We pray for Ruth, Jeremy and their daughters as they step back for a period of rest, prayer and reflection.

PCC VACANCIES 2021

Please do consider whether you can serve the church in this way. An elected member of the PCC must be at least 16 years old, on the church electoral roll and, unless she/he is under 18 at the date of election, been on the roll for at least 6 months before the election (CRR rule 10) and must not be disqualified (see below).

Acts 435

We are pleased to announce that Joff Phipps has joined Avril Bond and Jean Cooke as an advocate for Acts 435. Over the last year the team have seen their work double as the coronavirus pandemic has meant that lots more people have been struggling to find work and the support that would normally be around, so hopefully bringing on Joff will help with the work load, and will mean that more people will be able to find the help they need.

Man Down

On Monday the 29th of March we welcomed Man Down and Your Voice into the building for the first mental health support evenings. Man Down is a Cornwall based non profit that runs safe talking and listening spaces to help meet the current emotional and mental health needs of men who struggle to cope with the pressures facing them in our modern society. Your Voice Cornwall is an organisation that helps people affected by mental health, across Cornwall. They offer support groups, activities and other resources to help women come together and support one another in their Mental Health Journey.

Man Down and Your Voice have partnered together to specifically offer support to the amazing NHS staff at Treliske Hospital that have carried our county during the pandemic. The meetings will alternate, but will meet every Monday evening from 6.30-8.30.
