Sacred Hearts School' Ohana,

We've made it through the 2nd week of school and are thankful for in-person instructions. At the start of our week, we held our first Rosary prayer service, and Pastor Fr. Kuriakose gave a blessing to our students, faculty, classrooms, campus, and newly renovated bathrooms. Five Sacred Hearts School alumni who recently graduated from High School and leaving for College were present to receive a special blessing. See the "Class News Section" for pictures. Congratulations to all of our alumni, and God bless the new chapter of their lives.

The Hearts Council inauguration ceremony took place this morning, and I look forward to working with these excellent leaders this year. The Kindergarten class kicked off our House competition events this morning, and congratulations to St. Damien, Red team winners! Please see the House System section for our first school service project, "Kupuna Care Package," which supports our Parish Outreach Ministry in providing essential items for our elderly at Hale Mahaolu Eono on Lahainaluna Road. Each house will earn points for donating the items, but most importantly, our school's mission is to serve our community. See the "House System" section for house points update.

Next week there will be no school on Thursday and Friday. Maui Catholic School's faculty/staff will be attending Mass of the Holy Spirit at St. Anthony school in Wailuku on Thursday. Enjoy your weekend and see you on magnificent Monday!

Virtual Back to School Night is Tuesday, August 17, 2021. At 5:30 pm, you will receive an email with access to Sacred Hearts School's information from our Pastor, Faculty, House System, and more. Due to our current situation, we cannot gather in person and hope you will appreciate the convenience and safety of Virtual Back to School Night.

Let us continue to work together and pray for the safety and success of our school community. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Sincerely in Christ,

Mrs. Tonata Lolesio

The sign of God's salvation will be a woman clothed with the sun.

Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 45:10-12,16
The queen takes her place next to God.

Second Reading
1 Corinthians 15:20-27
Christ has redeemed Adam's sin.

Gospel Reading
Luke 1:39-56
Mary greets Elizabeth and sings God's praise.

This Sunday's Readings

Ave Maria! (Bach/Gounod)

"Gather as a family and talk about what you know about Mary and her being a model of faith. Recall that we are celebrating a holy day, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this day we remember that God took Mary to heaven, body and soul. Read together today's Gospel, Luke 1:39-56. In this reading we hear Mary's song of praise to God, the Magnificat. Invite each person in the family to write or draw one or more ways in which they see God working in your family life and in our world today. Use these prayers of thanksgiving to create your family's song of praise to God. Conclude by praying together this song of praise.."
