Monthly Newsletter: October 2022 What is happening at Rock Hollow Woods? Fall Family Fun Day; October 29, 2022- 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Fall Family Fun Day is an event for everyone. Enjoy the great outdoors together while hiking through beautiful Rock Hollow Woods in the autumn season. Participants will enjoy hiking our trails and listening to ghost tales shared by professional storyteller Deborah Pieri, a retired elementary educator with a Masters of Arts in Oral Tradition. After the storytelling, each family will receive a pumpkin to carve together. Families can then explore and play in the area nearby while participating in fall games and crafts. Registration for Toddler Time on the Trail (Monday/Wednesday/Friday offerings) and Homeschool Happenings are now OPEN ! These programs fill up fast so register today. Holiday and Christmas Creations- Saturday, December 3rd; 12:30-3:30 p.m. Holiday and Christmas Creations is a three hour program on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022. Participants will enjoy a hike in the great outdoors and visit various stations to make ornaments, cards, decorations, and/or holiday wreaths. Appropriate for children presently in 2nd through 8th grades. *Register before Saturday, November 19th and receive a $5 discount! Family Winter Wonderland with Santa- December 10th (9:30-11:30 a.m. OR 12:30-2:30 p.m.) Family Winter Wonderland with Santa at Rock Hollow Woods is an event geared towards families with younger children but is open to everyone on Saturday, December 10th, 2022. Enjoy the great outdoors together while hiking through beautiful Rock Hollow Woods in the winter season. Available in morning and afternoon sessions! Participants will enjoy a holiday story and songs together and then hike down our decorated trails to the pavilion. After the hike, families can make holiday crafts together and sip on hot chocolate by the fire. A special guest in a red suit will join us for anyone that wants pictures! *Register before Saturday, November 19th and receive a $5 discount! Rock Hollow Woods Environmental Learning Center is growing in terms of programming, staffing, board development, and facilities. Rock Hollow Woods needs a safer driveway. Thank you for the amazing volunteers who help at Rock Hollow Woods: ~Carol Patterson, Joan Hanley, and Mary Ellen Mahan for weeding the pollinator garden by the McCarney Learning Center. ~Elise Hafer for completing her Girl Scout Silver Award project by painting animal tracks on 4 large beautiful tree stumps which are now located at our rock circle at Rock Hollow Woods! ~Greg Knapp, Mary Ellen Mahan, Jim McCarney, and Billy McKay for building a composting station that will be used for both environmental and educational purposes.
