Robot Progress

Team 7373 Carbon Fiber

As the State Championship grows closer, Team 7373 is taking a holistic approach to team improvements, as they are developing new robot designs, an improved engineering notebook, and an expanded outreach portfolio. The changes being made to the robot include installing a faster intake to score an increased amount of rings in the high goal, along with adding protective paneling to eliminate the risk of rings being caught in the robot. Adding to the notebook and outreach portfolio will also help the team to improve in all areas of competition, as they seek to connect with the community in all ways. Team 7373 is looking forward to competing in the tournament!

Team 11364 Diamond Plate

In preparation for the Georgia State Championship, Team 11364 is working to improve their robot through two major design changes. The first update will be mounting a new shooter that will allow the team to consistently score multiple rings into the high goal, which will dramatically increase their scoring capacity. Team 11364 is also attaching an updated intake system that will work with the shooter to bring in rings quickly and align them for scoring. With these design changes in progress, the team is prepared and excited to compete!

Virtual Conference with Kenne-SAW

On February 18th, Team 7373 and Team 11364 had the opportunity to learn from Mark Younker, a business owner in the local Kennesaw-Marietta community. Mr. Younker taught the teams about his transition from working in a large corporation to owning Kenne-SAW, a company that specializes in providing bandsaw blades to the pallet manufacturing and wood products industries. After hearing Mr. Younker’s story, the team members were inspired to branch out and try new experiences with the skills they have gained through programs like robotics.

Choate Construction meeting

In a continuation of their ongoing relationship with Choate Construction, Team 7373 had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Bill Moultrie and Ms. Emily Brittingham to receive an update on the ongoing Amazon distribution project. The team learned about the progress of the project, with a specific emphasis on how the company is adapting to rainy conditions to still meet deadlines for the project. Additionally, Ms. Brittingham’s presence allowed Team 7373 to gain a better understanding of the ways in which various roles within the company work together. Thank you to Mr. Moultrie and Ms. Brittingham for hosting such an informative and exciting session!

Looking Ahead

Georgia State Championship

From April 11th to April 17th, both Team 7373 and Team 11364 will compete in a virtual Georgia State Championship alongside thirty-four fellow FIRST Tech Challenge teams. During the week, teams will compete in remote matches, submit an engineering portfolio, and be interviewed in two judging sessions. The week will culminate with a closing ceremony and awards to determine the future of all the teams involved!
