Welcome

Welcome to the first addition of my Red Boat Studio Newsletter!

My name is Karole and I’m the artist here at Red Boat Studio. I’ve been thinking about putting together a newsletter for many years and I’ve decided that now is the time to make it happen.  Mostly since you’re a captive audience during this COVID-19 outbreak 😊

In each issue I will give you…

  • a glimpse of studio life
  • show you works in progress
  • works available in my studio and my on-line shop
  • upcoming shows, events and sales of my work as well as other local artists
  • links to local arts galleries, restaurants, café’s and businesses who support local artists by displaying their work. I am keeping it local by focusing on Deep Cove North Shore
  • Local artsy news

Studio life

These sure are different times.  Maybe for you but for me it’s business as usual... sort of.  My daily commute consists of a walk downstairs to my studio as I normally do.  In fact, when the self isolation started and we were told stay home I thought great!  For an introvert like me being told I can stay home and spend as much time as I like creating in my studio sounded pretty darn good to me!

I did have a hard time getting going and felt scattered and disorganized. I’ve read that this common during this time.  Having a list of what I need to make each day really helps. There’s great satisfaction in checking things off at the end of the day.

I’ve been able to get my supplies by ordering on-line from Opus Art Supplies and Greenbarn Potters Supply. They’ve been great and it’s worked out very well.  They call when the order is ready for pick up and then I call them when I arrive, they leave my parcel outside for me.

The shops that my work is sold in are closed so sales are slow but I’m looking forward to them re-opening when it’s safe.

I was planning on having a Mothers day open studio but that’s been kyboshed. Instead I’ll be having a Mother’s Day Sale on-line through my website.  10% off Gift Cards and On-line purchases (use promo code MOTHERSDAY2020). I’ll even deliver your purchase for free in the lower mainland.

If you see something on-line that you’d like to see in person just message or call and I can make arrangements with you to come by the studio.  For example, if you let me know what you’d like to see and when you’re coming, I could leave it outside for you.  We can chat about it from a safe distance.

If you do not wish to receive my newsletter please unsubscribe… my feeling won’t be hurt – I appreciate that everyone gets tons of e-mails these days.
