April 2020 | Volume 20 | Issue 52

From Our President

Pete Cantor

As mentioned in the last newsletter the weather is in control! Well, it is not in control now. Covid 19 is control. We have been making changes to the course procedures and policies daily. As of now the course is closed to all except members. The driving range is closed to all. Be courteous to other members. No tee times will be assigned.
Please remember if you do come and play bring your own hand sanitizer, keep a social distance as much as possible, wash your hands frequently AND If you feel sick we recommend you stay home. We are trying to heed the message from our Governor Little.
The Coronavirus is real. It is serious. We must do everything in our power to stop the spread of this disease. We must be part of the solution.
We, the board, ask for your help, cooperation, and understanding.

Porta potties have been ordered to alleviate using the course restrooms

The grounds crew will be working as usual to maintain the course.

Many of our tournament, club activities, and events have been cancelled or postponed.

Welcome Jesse Campa, our new member.

From the Pro

Troy Vitek

I hope that this note finds all JCC Members doing as well as is possible in this very unusual time.

April usually marks the beginning of the season for golf events at JCC. The Mens and Womens Associations beginning weekly play days. Mens, womens and Couples leagues and other golf and social events filling the golf calendar and all of us enjoying the inconsistent spring weather for rounds of golf, practice sessions at the range and a great meal or beverage at the CaddyShack. I hope and expect that all of those things will resume soon. In the meantime, with the State ordered restrictions on travel and contact with others, the golf course is open for members to play golf.

Please:

  • Maintain Social Distancing
  • Leave the flagstick in the cup
  • Bunkers will not have rakes, play as waste area
  • Ride only one person to a cart when possible

At this time the events scheduled for April 2020 are postponed. Conditions seem to change on a daily basis. The golfshop and JCC will try to keep members informed of all of the updates and changes to policy involving the Covid 19 precautions and updates to the 2020 Event Calendar. Some of the things to watch for in future newsletters and updates include:

The Reciprocal agreement with Clear Lake CC is continued for 2020:
We will list the dates and conditions for reciprocal days when the restrictions on events are lifted.

Mens Twilight Teams Please Turn In Team Roster/Schedules as soon as possible:
We do not yet know when league will begin, but I am optimistic that there will be league play in 2020. Rosters may be emailed to [email protected]

Ladies Twilight please notify Patty Stumpf if you intend to have a league team and provide player information. We will organize league play when it is possible to determine the 2020 schedule.

There will be updates as they become available regarding the May Events calendar and updates if needed regarding play at the Jerome Country Club.

Men's Association

All April activities have been cancelled with the stay at home order. It is our hope to begin Twilight League and Men's Tuesday play as soon as possible.  Keep in the middle and let's hope for a May start.
