Pathways Rhythms

February 2020

Only when I stopped believing in myself

did I come into this beauty.

Sit quietly, and listen for a voice that will say,

"Be more silent."

Die and be quiet.

Quietness is the surest sign that you've died.

Your old life was a frantic running from silence.

Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking.

Live in silence.

Wisdom Sabbath Day

Saturday, February 22, 6am – 6pm or 9am – 6pm

This pre-Pentecost retreat will follow the pattern of a Wisdom School with rhythms of moving, chanting, silence, teaching, conscious work, reflection alone and with others, and eating. Wisdom Schools seek living presence: “a new way of Being in service of Love.” This Wisdom Sabbath Day is suited to those comfortable with long silences and deep listening.

Nina Lanctot and Carmen Horst will provide leadership. Both have studied under Cynthia Bourgeault in the Wisdom School tradition and both are experienced spiritual directors.

Suggested donation is $50 per person/day plus a vegetable and a piece of fruit for a potluck lunch.

Do you want to learn a new way of seeing?

To write a spiritual autobiography is to learn a new way of seeing as we become sensitive to the hidden work of God. Anyone can write a spiritual autobiography because God is active in each of our lives.

Why write in a group?

Writing is best done in the company of others who are engaged in the same task. We share with, encourage, motivate, and affirm one another during the writing process. In this 4-session retreat, you will sharpen your memories, make new friends, and learn more about the meaning of your life as God’s footprints are identified within it.

Janet Elliott is a certified Guided Autobiography Instructor, retired educator and literary specialist, published author and writing coach, certified Healing Caregiver, harp player, and resident of Goshen.
