League Tournament

Team 7373 Carbon Fiber

At the Canton-Etowah League Tournament, Team 7373 dominated the robot competition, ending the qualification matches in first place. Moving into the semifinal rounds, the team experienced minor technical difficulties in autonomous, but they worked diligently with their alliance partner to advance to the finals. In the final rounds, Team 7373 shut out the other teams, winning the robot game and leaving undefeated for the day. In the awards ceremony, the team’s work with the engineering portfolio, outreach events, and judging sessions during the tournament allowed them to be the first place Inspire Award and the Captain of the Winning Alliance.

Team 11364 Diamond Plate

On January 23rd at Mount Paran Christian School, Team 11364 competed in the Canton-Etowah League Tournament, alongside eight of their fellow teams in the league. The team went undefeated in qualification matches, allowing them to be selected to play in the semifinals. Team 11364 continued to win matches until they were defeated in the finals of the robot game. During the awards ceremony, the team took home the Connect Award and the second place Inspire Award, allowing them to advance to the State Championship.

Choate Construction Meeting

In a continuation of the team’s ongoing relationship with Choate Construction, Team 7373 met virtually with Mr. Bill Moultrie of Choate Construction. Mr. Moultrie presented the team with a new project that his team has been working on: an Amazon fulfillment center in Atlanta, GA. Team 7373 hopes to use this information to explore future career opportunities in construction and building things. Thank you so much to Mr. Moultrie for working with Eagle Robotics for the past few seasons.

Virtual Conference with Bobby Scales

With this season’s theme of Game Changers, Team 7373 wanted to find a way to relate robotics to athletics as a whole. The perfect solution for this was a virtual session with Bobby Scales, a minor league field coordinator and former MLB player. Scales works day in and day out to improve his players using new technology and STEM skills that directly relate to the team. He taught Team 7373 about the value of evaluating new technology while also not discarding current methods, triaging a situation to find the best course of action, and learning to evaluate STEM skills to all activities, even sports.

Moving Forward

Team 7373 Carbon Fiber

In preparation for the Georgia State Championship, Team 7373 has targeted their focus on improving the outreach portfolio for the program. In an attempt to truly embody the robotics program and be ambassadors for STEM, the team will work to continue extending their reach in robotics and work in the community as a whole.

Team 11364 Diamond Plate

With the State Championship rapidly approaching, Team 11364 is working to design a new shooter in an attempt to intake rings at a faster rate, while also developing a more accurate way to score those rings into the highest goal. The team is excited to have the opportunity to compete at the next level of competition!

Looking Ahead

Georgia State Championship

From April 11th to April 17th, both Team 7373 and Team 11364 will compete in a virtual Georgia State Championship alongside thirty-four fellow FIRST Tech Challenge teams. During the week, teams will compete in remote matches, submit an engineering portfolio, and be interviewed in two judging sessions. The week will culminate with a closing ceremony and awards to determine the future of all the teams involved!
