I am beginning to sound like a broken record but I am going to say it one more time; I really think we will be playing golf soon, in Southern Idaho. This winter has been one for the ages. I can certainly attest to that as my cabin fever has reached it’s limit. I feel a little bit like Jack Nicholson at the end of the Shining. Let’s just hope snow goes away and the ground permanently thaws out before anything bad happens.

Believe it or not, club greens and grounds operations will be ramping up this month. Once the course drys out, the Greens Crew will be out to catch up on their winter projects. Bart has assured me that the old 7 tee box will be gone and the pond will be expanded this spring. The Crew will also revamp part of the irrigation system on 10. On top of that they will begin mowing and possibly irrigating by the middle of the month.

The Pro Shop is now open as well. Troy or his staff will be around during normal winter operating hours, weather permitting. Remember to check into the Pro Shop once conditions allow us to play. I would also remind you that if we do get a break in the weather, please call ahead for tee times. There will likely be a number of us excited to get on the course. Members can book tee times seven days in advance and non-members can book three days in advance.

The First Tee of Idaho at JCC will be holding its inaugural meeting on March 11th at 2 o’clock. If you know any kids 7-18 years old, the First Tee is a great way for them to be introduced to the game golf. First Tee program is also enjoyable for any level of player. You do not have to be a

member of JCC to participate in the program. This First Tee not only teaches kids how to play golf, but it also teaches them etiquette, respect, and life lessons - all centered around golf.

Maybe we need to open the program up for 18-100 year olds too!

That is it for this month. I really hope to report more next month once we have all spent some time on the course. Here is to actually hitting some golf shots at JCC in March. See you soon!

Cheers!

While the golf course is not playable March 1, It does appear that some warm weather is on the way and we will probably be playing in early March. We will notify thru email as soon as the golf course opens for play. You may also phone the golf shop to check on current conditions.

If you would like to make tee times, remember that members can make them a full week in advance. Please provide us with the number of players in your group (and names when possible). This will allow us to pair up and fill out as many groups into foursomes as possible.

The 2017 golf equipment has begun to arrive. The newest versions of Taylor Made, Ping, Titleist, Callaway, Mizuno, Skechers, Footjoy and Cobra Equipment will be among the early arrivals.

We will once again be offering a special on Titleist Pro V1 golf balls March 15th thru April 14th .

In the Titleist Loyalty Rewarded Program You can purchase 4 dozen ProV1’s (they must be personalized) for the price of 3 dozen. The member price is $159.95 +tax for 4 dozen (this is well below wholesale). Place your order between March 15th and April 14th.

Also: We still have about 20 dozen 2016 Pro V1 and Pro V1X . Since There is a new 2017 version of these, We will close them out for $39.95 per dozen while they last.

As you probably have heard members now have practice range privileges included in membership. Just stop in the golf shop and pick up a few tokens for the practice ball dispenser. The Driving Range will open as soon as it dries out enough so that the practice balls will not plug and they can be picked up.

The Jerome High School Golf team will begin practice sessions soon. Most week days they will occupy the tee times from 4:10 to 4:40 in the afternoon. Go Tigers!

Be sure to pay your mens and womens association dues and handicap dues by either mailing them to the golf shop address or delivering them to the golf shop. It only takes one day to activate your Idaho Golf Association Membership if it has been inactivated because the dues were not paid by February 1st. The Idaho Golf Association allows scores made on IGA courses to be posted for handicap purposes beginning March 1st if course conditions are within a normal range. Scores made during the winter at a golf course in an area observing an "active season" (Arizona, Southern California, Florida, etc.) should be posted.

Please post all eligible scores for handicap purposes.

Mens Twilight League Captains may pickup 2017 schedules in the golfshop. Please return the team roster and schedule as soon as possible so that we are able to organize the Season Schedule for the first night of twilight league matches.

Ladies captains will receive the 2017 letter/schedule by Early March. Please notify Janet Cantor or Babe Hansen of changes to current teams, and any new players who wish to play please contact them or speak with us in the golfshop.

March! Springtime! Soon all of us will gather together on beautiful JCC golf course; until then, patience.

The Ladies Day Association meeting will be held on the first Wednesday of April, the 5th, at 10:00am. Please come and enjoy regardless of wind, rain, or (hopefully) sunshine.

Remember, we will be publishing the brochure soon. We need corrected phone numbers. Also, if you would like to be on an email list that will send out reminders of upcoming events include you current email address.
