Dear Dharma friends, 
If you live in the electorate of Bega, it would be great if you could lend your support for Drogmi Buddhist Institute to stage a joyous and special festival at our Kamalashila Centre at Tilba Tilba. For the Bega electorate there are a very high number of proposals so it could be decided who gets up by one or two votes – please help us by voting before Thursday 15 August. Details are below. Triple Vision Festival – LAST CHANCE TO VOTE by 15 AUGUST!

It's a little bit complicated but here’s how to make your vote. 

  • Go to the grant page at https://mycommunityproject.service.nsw.gov.au
  • Select the electorate “Bega”
  • Scroll down to the “Triple Vision Festival” and click “Shortlist me”
  • You’ll need to log in to your MyServiceNSW account before you can shortlist the project (if you don’t have an account already, you’ll need to set it up which you can do online)
  • Then to verify your identity, you need your Medicare card details – enter its colour, your number, expiry date, name and individual reference number
  • Select your electorate again (enter your residential address) – choose Bega
  • Pick two other projects to shortlist
  • Then click on “My Shortlist” at the top of the page
  • Make sure “Triple Vision Festival” is shortlisted and is your first preference
  • Complete the privacy agreements
  • Then submit your vote – thank you!

With your help we can make this happen! This fantastic project in our local community could receive the funding it needs. Vote now – the projects with the most votes will get the funding! Voting closes 15 August.

TIBETAN DOCTOR AND ASTROLOGER – 24-29 AUGUST

Drogmi Buddhist Institute, in partnership with Men-Tsee-Khang, Dharmasala (India), and the Tibet Information Office in Canberra, are hosting a visit to the far South Coast and Sydney, New South Wales with Tibetan physician, Dr Tsundu Dolma and Tibetan Astro Scientist, Ms Tenzin Tsundue, from August 24 to 29, 2019 . This visit is part of the Australian Outreach visit from Men-Tsee-Khang, the most prestigious Institute of Education, Research and Training in the fields of Tibetan Medicine and Tibetan Astrology. 

This truly is a rare opportunity to learn about genuine methods and treatments for our overall wellbeing.

ANNUAL SHAMATHA RETREAT – 4-12 OCTOBER

Our Annual Shamatha retreat will be held at Kamalashila Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Tilba from Friday 4 to Saturday 12 October.

The retreat will be conducted by Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe, a Tibetan meditation teacher who has been practising these techniques for more than 40 years. 

The retreat is perfect both for beginners and the more experienced, and will include a balance of meditation theory and practice.

In Kuching, Malaysia, Venerable Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe has concluded his two weeks’ teaching programme which coincides with the auspicious Chökör Düchen month, during which the Buddha first turned the wheel of Dharma.

Around 60 people attended the Annual Family Day at Kamalashila Tibetan Buddhist Centre. The day’s theme was all about Compassion, to oneself and others. This was a very special and unique day, where Khenpo la spent time with families, all sharing in how to have fun together and at the same time learning about Loving-Kindness and Compassion to oneself, family and others, reaching out to the wider community.

Celebrating Saga Dawa Düchen at Tilba Tilba and at Croydon, Sydney – sangha members came together to celebrate the very special time of Saga Dawa, in particular Saga Dawa Düchen.

Khenpo la commenced this retreat in a full day of teachings on Compassion. Participants came from as far away as Melbourne in the south and Richmond, NSW in the north, all sharing with each other in this beautiful place. Khenpo la taught on the real enemy for us is self-cherishing and the mind that does this is called ‘ignorant’. This is the base of our discrimination mind which causes us so many difficulties. Khenpo la stressed that when we really look at this type of mind, it is very insecure. Khenpo talked about compassion having two aspects: 1, a good heart and 2, wisdom. We need the good heart of loving kindness, and the wisdom to know actually know how to help others. A quote from Khenpo la “Wisdom makes meditation authentic”.
