A Hill Country Christmas

LBCC Treasurer John Chalmers enjoys bicycling around the lake area.  On this past Christmas Eve he took a ride and snapped this photo of a not too common Christmas scene, but it is very representative of the hill country life style.  For our readers that don't live in the area full time.......we're sorry!  But we hope everyone had a joyous and safe Christmas.  Likewise, we hope your New Year is off to a good start.

As a reminder, a great way to start the New Year is to make your annual membership donation to LBCC.  If you haven't already renewed, please consider doing so as soon as you finish reading this newsletter.

Annual Business Membership is $100.  Individual Membership is $25.

Annual Member Christmas Mixer

Our annual Christmas Mixer was held at the Hill Country Hall on Saturday December 7th.

Members attending were treated to a great chicken and fixin's dinner catered by Mama’s Home Cooking in Burnet.  Hill Country Hall generously provided a beer & wine bar.

We were very pleased to have in attendance our friend and past Secretary/Treasurer Annette Gardner.  Annette was very active in LBCC for many years until she relocated to Colorado in 2018.

After dinner President Ron Abshier announced John Chalmers would be retiring from his office of treasurer. John was acknowledged for his service after which John pledged his continuing support.  Ron then presented the 2020 slate of officers for approval of the members.  The slate consisted of Ron Abshier, as president; Nick Zackoff, as vice president and Richard King, as secretary/treasurer.  A motion was made and seconded and the slate of officers was approved by acclamation.  In addition to these officers, other members continuing their place on the board for 2020 are: Ken McGary, Steve McCarty and John Raschke.

Highlight of the evening was when Ron was presented an appreciation award by George Bold “In Recognition and Appreciation of Fourteen Years of Leadership and Many Successful Projects.” Congratulations again Ron.    We appreciate you!

Part of the annual "Mixer" is to help the Llano County Sheriff's office collect toys for Brown Santa.  Attendees were asked to bring a new toy for the cause. We are pleased to report a very successful toy drive. It took three deputies to haul off all the loot.    Thanks Members!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last month we reported to you the damage inflicted on the Llano County Park dock by an early fall storm.  You may remember seeing this photo.
We are pleased to report some of the damaged dock was salvaged and was repaired.  LBCC board members John Raschke, Steve McCarty, and Ron Abshier were successful in reinstalling a shortened version of the dock last weekend.  Plans are for a new, more seaworthy dock to be built and installed in the spring.
