UPCOMING CULTURAL ASSEMBLY

The Caterpillar Hunter

Thanks to the support of the PV-PTO, this Monday, April 15, 2019 @ 10:35am, Ormondale students will enjoy “Caterpillar Hunter”, a 45 minute assembly presented by the Traveling Lantern Theater Company.

Based on the beloved character of the late Steve Irwin, the Caterpillar Hunter shrinks himself and sets off to explore the terrain, pursuing elusive bugs and strange herbage in the wild recesses of a common North American vegetable garden. Crikey! Join in his exciting backyard adventure!

Traveling Lantern has been educating and entertaining children all over the country since 1985. Our mission is to bring great stories to children, to draw them into an active theater experience, to excite their minds and to tickle their imaginations. We are deeply committed to providing high quality, low cost arts programming to schools and libraries.

Parents and other community members are welcome to join the assembly, which will be held at Ormondale’s MUR at 10:35am.

Almost History:  that Whole Space-Time Continuum Thing

In a hilarious series of time-travelling misadventures, a Reporter and a Sidekick livestream from great moments in American history.  Despite the über-scientist’s best efforts to keep the clueless Reporter out of trouble, they change the course of history and return to a comically chaotic present. Even Einstein and Marie Curie cannot undo the disastrous effects of their mishaps.  Eventually, they are able to save democracy and technology by restoring order to the "whole space-time continuum thing."

Performances are Wednesday April 17th and Thursday April 18th at the Priory School Performing Arts Center.  Shows start at 6:30 p.m. both evenings and run about one hour.  You do NOT need tickets and there is NO CHARGE to watch the show.

Come out to watch the show and support our CMS students — it really is a very funny show!

MOUNTAIN CAMP

Making the world a better place by positively impacting campers and staff though the camp experience.

For the past four years, Mountain Camp Woodside has partnered with the Stanford University Graduate School of Education and Challenge Success to study how participation in our summer camp provides children with opportunities to develop critical 21st century learning skills. The results have been overwhelmingly positive and confirm what we have always believed - camp provides outstanding opportunities for kids to practice empathy, creative problem solving, personal responsibility, self-control, perseverance, teamwork and communication.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch this VIDEO to learn more about why camp is such a powerful experience for children.

Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions about this research and the impact that it has had on our camp program. Thank you.
