NKAI PLD OPPORTUNITIES 2020

There are several PLD events on the NKAI calendar this year. There are a number of ways that you can stay informed about these events to make sure that you don't miss out.

1. Subscribe to the Te Maru Pānui via the NKAI website. We will release an email pānui on the 1st of every month.

3. Please read your emails and register for events as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Whakangungu Reo Māori

Following two successful Reo Māori PLD wānanga with Leon Blake and Pania Papa, and presentations at the National Conference NKAI is please to announce a three 2-day wānanga reo course spread over the year with 40 places avaialble.

All tumuaki received notification about this opportunity at the end of 2019 and we have received a number of expressions of interest. It is now time to confirm that interest by formally registering for the course. 

There are a few important notes to be aware of before registering for this FREE course:

1. All three 2-day wānanga are compulsory to attend for the full time. All scheduled days are during the school week.

  • Term 1:  27-28 February 2020
  • Term 2: 4-5 June 2020
  • Term 3: 10-11 September 2020

2. All participants must already be speakers of Te Reo Māori. This course is not suitable for non-reo Māori speaking teachers.

3. All participants must have the support of their tumuaki as the kura will be required to cover teacher release and potentially travel costs.

4. All participants must formally register through Eventbrite by Monday 10 February 2020. Click the link below.

5. Tamariki mokopuna are unable to attend these hui.

Wānanga Arataki 2020

DISTINCTION HAMILTON, 27-28 March 2020

A two day wānanga has been announced for Iwi, Boards of Trustees and Management teams to attend the Wānanga Arataki 2020 in Hamilton from Friday 27 March to Saturday 28 March

The theme of the hui is 'Te Tihi o Angitu' therefore all workshops and keynotes will speak to the three pillars, 'Tukuihotanga', 'Mātauranga' and Oranga from a leadership and governance perspective.

The program will be released soon together with information about registration. Like the Hui ā Motu - the National Conference, there will be a charge of $100.00 +GST per person.

Changes to MOE PLD Funding Applications

He mihi ki ngā tumuaki o tō tātou kaupapa, ōtira ki ngā kura katoa. He pānui tēnei hei whakamārama atu i ngā rerekētanga o te pūnaha tono pūtea whakangūngū (PLD Funding).

There will be a few changes this year regarding PLD funding from MOE for all schools.

  1. Term 1 round of PLD submissions have opened, closing early March (dates may differ from region to region) please submit as early as possible to save missing out. There is a new simplified form that is attached below with a draft question and answer to make the process easier.   3. New PLD priorities will come into effect beginning Term 3, 2020 so there will be no funding available in Term 2 this year
  4. Sector workshops and support are being organised for February 2020 to assist schools with the process and applying for funding.
  5. Please apply for minimum 100 hours there are many facilitators available but some that were highlighted last year were Kia Ata Mai and DMIC

Digital Ignition – Māpura Matihiko

Skye Stirling presented in a workshop at the 2019 National Conference the FREE applications available to bring Hangarau Matihiko to life in the classroom. Māpura Matihiko will be running a FREE IT basic coding for Year 3-10 all in Te Reo Māori.

  • Kura must register in 2019 for a better chance of being included in this opportunity.
