From Our President

Pete Cantor

I am very happy to report that there is not much to report. The Jerome Country club is running smoothly and is a wonderful place to hang out and play golf.

I hope all of you voted. As I write this newsletter, the elections have not closed. In a few days we will learn the names of the two new board members. We had a good list of candidates.

The new practice range is about to open. Check it out. Bart did an outstanding job designing it and making it. Thanks Bart. All the money to build the practice area came from our Summer Smash fund raiser. June 15th is our next fund raiser tournament.  Please sign up in the pro shop to play or just to enjoy dinner and entertainment. Our future plan for our donated money is to build a much needed concrete sand storage area. Sand is very expensive and needs to be protected.

Rob and Jana Sellers gave the Jerome Country Club a gift of a bronze art piece, depicting a small boy teeing off a golf ball. The board will find a place to install the statue so all can enjoy.

The greens have been aerated and due to the process Bart used this year, it was the best ever. The greens have healed up nicely. Bart also replaced the old door on the cart barn with a new door. Thanks again, Bart.

Don’t forget we have reciprocal play with Clear Lake Country Club. Those wishing to participate must make reservations through the golf shop and are allowed to schedule one week in advance.

Dates that JCC Members may schedule a Tee Time and play as a member at CLCC:

Jerome Tigers High School Golf Update

It was a successful building year for the Jerome High School golf team.  Morale was high as the golfers finished the season by sending two individual golfers to the State high school golf tournament at Twin Falls Golf Club on May 13th and 14th.  Vinny Di Lucca represented JHS for the boys and Bayley Miller for the girls.  During the regular season, the boys’ team took 3rd place in three tournaments, laying a solid foundation for next year.  Coach McKinsey Rodriguez was pleased with the team’s progress and hopes next year the boys will qualify as a team for State and the girls will send another individual golfer to compete.  Every golfer except for three will be returning to play and to the JCC for practice.
