It's the little things that seem to eat our time and get into our craw. A few weeks ago, I was filling our "easiest to reach" bird-feeder just outside my kitchen window. (See Youtube Video)
I had Don hang an "Out on a Limb," just last summer, which saves me from having to grab a small ladder to fill the feeder. He can reach it easily. To my surprise, the paracord stuck in the pulley. Oh, no, that has never happened before. So I had to get the ladder anyway, a total nuisance.
I adjusted the line through the pulley, filled the feeder, and was off.
But the next time I filled the same bird-feeder it happened again. Oh dear, a bug in the system. Had Don take a look at it.
We learned something that hadn't occurred with our three other Out on a Limb's location. Don hung the pulley directly to a rod iron plant hook instead of using the strap to attach the pulley. Without a natural swivel provided by hanging with strap, pulling the line from the side causes it to jump off the pulley wheel and catch.
Note to our customers: use the black-strap provided when hanging OOAL, it keeps a swivel in your pulley, securing a smooth running line.
