Children Make Terrible Pets

This is a fun twist, putting a bear in the role of a child and a child in the role of the pet. The story is silly, but I feel it has an important message, "Not all creatures are pets." #humansareanimals

Eyes That Kiss In The Corners

Joanna will make children proud to have "eyes that kiss in the corners." The story is about finding wonder in your physical self and connecting your body with your family and culture. I think it is a masterpiece.

  • One of the reasons I talk a lot about active and passive income streams in this newsletter is because I am constantly trying to figure it out myself. I am showing my work as they say. The other reason is that a lot of people want to do what they love, but making money doing what they love is a problem. One vlogger showed a diagram of what he called "Ikagai" or the core of what you want to be in life. This is a long video, but the vlogger talks about Ikagai around 2:30 to 6:00.
  • I want to warn you about a mistake I made using Amazon Affiliates. To avoid getting banned and losing commissions, you must state that you are an Amazon Affiliate, BUT you cannot stress any incentives for using your links. For example, you cannot tell your followers that they would be helping you out by using the links. I think the Amazon Affiliate program is a great way to broaden your income streams, but there is a lot to learn about using it properly. I will share my lessons learned with you as they come.
  • I started using Kit.co on a recommendation for people using affiliate links as passive income. So far I can say that it is free, really easy to use, and I am excited about the possibilities. Kit.co allows you to make product recommendations and share the link to Pinterest or other social media apps and your website. If you are looking for ways to boost your affiliate links, you may want to look into this.

  • Jaime Zollars has been sharing some of her book cover process on Instagram.
  • I recently painted art for the cover of a book of folktales called, “Kindness Tales: World Folktales to Talk About” by Margaret Read MacDonald. It is currently on pre-order

How many people can say that they will never forget the neighborhood Ice Cream Man? Just me? My Ice Cream Man, or Woman, in this case, left an impression on me. When we heard the Ice Cream Truck playing, my friends and I would get on our bikes and chase after the sound. Scrounging our pockets for whatever change we had to pay for her wares. One day, as she reached out of her truck to deliver a drumstick or a push-up, she told us why she sold ice cream. She was saving money to buy a trumpet. Playing the trumpet was her passion, and selling ice cream was the path to reach her goal. She admonished us to

find a way to do what you love, and love what you do. . .by making what you do a path to doing what you love.
