ORM STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK thank you!

What an incredible week our teachers and staff had at Ormondale celebrating and appreciating our wonderful staff!!

Big thanks to our outstanding SAW leadership team -  Julie Harding and Erin Murarka - plus all of the dedicated Home Room Parents (HPRs) who organized lunches and gifts for our one of a kind staff members. Ormondale staff really appreciate this week and these volunteers made SAW happen in a HUGE way.

The week began with a special coffee cart caffeine boost and delish breakfast on Monday!  Thank you to Amy Okarma, Brook Coffee, Nelly Wolfson and Lily Fogarty.

On Tuesday, all our staff members received gifts, flowers and other treats, coordinated and organized by our outstanding HRPs.

Wednesday, the PTO hosted a flavorful Mediterranean themed lunch.  The staff room was turned into a Greek Retreat. Thank you to our volunteers: Angie Stern, Vanessa Maffia, Mandy Facchino, Marjel Scheuer, Sangini Bedner, Sarah King, Leslie Skanberg, Sarah Vincenzo, Aimee Blum, Linda Kamran, Moonyi Satusky, Amanda Smoot and Daphne Melendez.

Thursday, all of our staff received a custom lunch delivery from each class, thank you again to this year’s HRPs. And thank you to the Lunch/Recess Volunteers for helping in both play yards while the staff enjoyed their lunch; Marie Klemchuk, Gary Hanning, Dawn Axelrad and Kiran Kamboj.

And the week ended with a Friday Soup and Salad lunch.  Many thanks to: Michelle Walker, Jen Arends, Brook Coffee, Lily Fogarty, Sara Donahue, Marta Kandler, Marjel Scheuer, Amanda Smoot, Kim Cashin, Camilla Eckstein, Leeza Eren and Adriana Singh.

It took a village to put such a wonderful week together and we could not of done it without all the many parents involved. Thank you for the time and coordination you all have devoted to show our beloved staff just how much we care. They loved every bit of this week and know just how much they are appreciated.

CMS Spring Play - Save the Date!

EVERYONE INVITED TO JOIN THE MAKER FAIRE FUN!

This year parents are invited to join Ormondale and CMS students and staff in sharing your passion at PVSD’s 3rd Annual School Maker Faire. The Makery Club is hosting this event on Friday, April 12th, from noon to 3:30pm.

A school Maker Faire is a showcase of projects created by you, the inventors, tech enthusiasts, hobbyists, crafters, artists and DIYers. During the fair, you will have the opportunity to talk about your passion with students and other visitors.

We are also looking for a few adults to help run hands-on activity stations. If interested in volunteering or sharing your passion, please contact our Maker Coach, Sarrie Paguirigan, [email protected].

CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND THIS WEEK

Just a note to check the lost and found for any missing items. Anything left will be cleared out during Spring break. Thank you!

CMS TRACK AND FIELD REGISTRATION OPEN

Corte Madera Track & Field is open to all 4th-8th grade boys and girls.

Track will take place on Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:30 at M-A High School (with a few dates at Hillview).  Track will run from April 18h to May 22nd.  Athletes will have an opportunity to participate in sprints, distance, hurdles, discus, shot  put, high jump and long jump. The program is run in conjunction with Hillview, La Entrada, Woodside, and Oak Knoll.  This allows us to pool our resources and offer such a wide variety of events each practice and meet.

The program is very low key, and focuses on having fun while trying to achieve personal bests in the events they choose to participate in.  We do not hand out medals or ribbons after competition, but we do keep records of times, distances and heights, and share those out so athletes can monitor their personal best results.

Register online at http://www.pvpto.com/track.html.  Registration ends 3/26.

Contact Kate Cox at [email protected] if you have any questions.

A group of PVSD parents launched a smartphone pledge last year called “Wait Until 8th,” and they would like to provide an update for each grade, and to give new families in the district an opportunity to participate!

“Wait Until 8th” has gained a lot of momentum in neighboring communities, as well as nationwide (your child can still have a phone and be part of this pledge).

The Windmill School Laurel Education Center Classes

The Windmill School LaureL Education Center is excited to announce the launch of Enrichment Classes for elementary aged students at its beautiful Portola Valley campus. Windmill School Laurel Education Center is opening up its community spaces to excellent outside providers who will offer great classes this spring. We hope your K-3rd graders will join us!

Classes begin the week of April 8th, so please register soon to secure your spot! Any elementary students who meet the age requirements in the class descriptions below are welcome to enroll.

Ukulele (offered by After School Music Academy):
After School Music Academy is pleased to bring its Ukulele Group to the LaureL Education Center at Windmill School. This hands on class is open to students in grades K-3.  The uke is an excellent instrument on which to learn how to play music. It's relatively simple to learn, easy to tote around, inexpensive, super fun, and timelessly popular!  In this ensemble, we will jump right into the fun stuff and learn how to play music on the ukulele. By the end of the course, students will know a few chord positions, will be able to play a couple of songs on the ukulele, and be able to sing along. Our instructors bring a classroom set of ukuleles with them to every class for the kids to use. Though it is not required, we highly recommend that students also have a ukulele at home to practice. No prior music experience required!

Mondays, 3:30pm-4:30pm
Fee is $240
8 classes, First class April 8th. Last class June 3rd. No class on Memorial Day.
Space for up to 20 students, K-3rd graders
