Is it just me, or has January been waaaaay longer than anticipated? The shoveling, the blowing snow and of course the colder than usual deep freeze! If you're feeling the same way, I've got a solution for you...Try out one of the WRRC's winter programs! We have so much going on right now, there is bound to be something that will get you feeling great (and forgeting about the freezing cold temperatures). You will notice in this newsletter that there are several community events coming up this month as well. Keep reading to check it all out!

First Aid Training
Emergency or Standard First-Aid Training with RESQ Safety Training Manitoba. ONLY A FEW SPOTS LEFT!

Join us Tuesdays in the Whitemouth School Library for the "Mother Goose Parent & Child Program."
In the Mother Goose Program, parents and young children come together to enjoy songs, rhymes and stories. Experience the spark and magic that comes from enjoying a favorite rhyme or song, while bonding together. Best enjoyed for children 2-4 years of age but all are welcome.

Art Therapy - Express Yourself | |
Join art therapist Joye Platford for 6 art classes! This specially designed art class is for youth ages 13-17, and will use art to work through various health topics, such as mental health, inner conflict and personal growth.
Art classes will take place at the Whitemouth School and will be on Tuesdays: March 5-April 16, 2019 (no class during spring break).

Who Should Attend?
-All owners, managers and supervisors of food service establishments. -All food service personnel who are responsible for the receiving, preparing and serving of food.
Upon completion of the exam, you will receive a provincially recognized certificate, valid for five years.
Note: -In accordance with the City of Winnipeg Food Service Bylaw: No person shall operate a food service establishment unless the person in charge has successfully completed the Certified Food Handler Training program.
-Food Service Establishments with less than 5 Food Handlers must have a person on staff who has successfully completed an approved food handler training program.

Physical Activity Leadership Bursary | |
Have a passion for a sport or activity that improves health or fitness? Individuals interested in taking training in order to lead physical activity in our community are invited to apply for the Physical Activity Leadership Bursary (PAL). Common examples include training to become a community soccer or tball coach, yoga instructor training and swim instructor training. Successful applicants will be covered up to 50% of the training costs (up to a maximum of $500).
In order for leadership training to qualify for the PAL bursary, there has to be some sort of provincial recognition of the training or certification, such as a sport recognized through Sport Manitoba, or fitness certification through either the Manitoba Fitness Council or CanFitPro. Applications must be approved prior to the start of training.

ROC Eastman works with families across the Eastman region, getting children involved in recreation and leisure activities when certain barriers might now allow them to do so on their own. Local Health Improvement Group | |
Join forces with the IERHA and be part of the Local Health Improvement Group! Anyone who is interested in providing input to the regional health authority on matters of health and health services, may find this volunteer opportunity exciting. There are 4 meetings a year, and this is a 3 year commitment. Applications are due at the end of July 2019.
