Last week you may have noticed an addition of color to Downtown Jacksonville. Sculptural bicycle racks and street furnishings were installed as part of Phase One of the DIA Urban Arts Project, which also include painted JTA Skyway Columns and vinyl wrapped utility boxes.

This week's 10 questions interview is with oil painter Jeffrey Luque.  Join Luque at CoRK​ on Friday, May 19 for the opening of his series "Girl with Flowers," which consists of 12 paintings all 72"x58" in scale. 

Luque's process is rooted in pointillism but explores the technique further by combining bursts of colors and geometric shapes such as triangles, squares, and circles. These macro details, which are only visible up close, give each piece its

definition and character when viewed from afar.

THE PRIVATE LIFE OF PLANTS

Join The Elements of MOSH, MOSH's young professionals organization, at Sun-Ray Cinema​ on Wednesday, May 17 for a screening of the BBC Series "The Private Life of Plants."

STEPPING IT UP

The Cultural Council has partnered with Dr. Nadia Ramoutar to host a goal setting group, which meets in person on the third Thursday of every month.  The next meeting will transpire on Thursday, May 18 at the office of the Cultural Council from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM.  Space is limited to 16 participants.  To register or request additional information 

please email [email protected].  Between meetings the group engages with one another through social media and email.

Attention Jacksonville Sneakerheads: Did you know that All Points Bulletin Boutique (APB) opened a location in Riverside?

Join visual artist Dustin Harewood and street photographer Malcolm Jackson at APB on Saturday, May 20 for the opening of their exhibit "Magic Kingdom."

SUMMER GLOW

BABS'LAB​ is hosting visual and make-up artist Ingrid "Yuzly" Mathurin on Saturday, May 20 for a make-up workshop titled "Summer Glow." Participants of this workshop will learn from Mathurin's 10 years of

experience in the makeup art industry and will leave the workshop knowing how to cover up under eye circles, perfect their foundation for an everyday look, how to achieve Dewy Skin, and how obtain a sultry evening smokey eye.
