Questum Entrepreneur Event A Great Success

Picture

Entrepreneurs Day at the Questum Centre, Ballingarrane, Clonmel

Last Friday, some of Ireland's top Entrepreneurs were brought together at the Questum Centre in Clonmel, by Clonmel based Tom Brennan, co-founder of Eirgen and Entrepreneur in Residence at the Innovation centre.  The stellar line-up on the day included Clonmel man Patrick Joy of Suretank, David McKernan, founder of Java Republic, Louise Grubb CEO of Triviumvet, and Clodagh Cavanagh, CEO of Abbey Machinery.  The speakers provided some powerful insights into their own personal journeys as well as providing much inspiration to the large audience.  Tom Brennan said " This conference was a superb showcase for Clonmel, for Tipperary, for the South East; a brilliant line-up of some of the country's top entrepreneurs, over 80 in attendance and a big waiting list.  There's a lot of excitement about what's happening here in the start-up context and that they were willing to come here to tell their story reflects that."  Gillian Barry, LIT's Head of Innovation & Enterprise said "It would not have happened without Tom Brennan... to have our start-up businesses get the opportunity to hear from seven proven entrepreneurs and from Tom Brennan as well, one of the most successful entrepreneurs to come out of the regions represents what is happening here at Questum, and something we are very proud of."

Forty Bed Unit to be handed over to hospital

South Tipperary General Hospital

A game changing 20m Euro investment South Tipperary General Hospital into a new era in the delivery of hospital services with a new forty bed state of the art unit to be handed over to hospital management today.  The investment will bring massive relief to the chronic overcrowding that has plagued the hospital and according to Professor Peter Murchan it will enshrine the future of the hospital.

"It will bring a huge relief to the indignity so many patients endured on trolleys, it will allow staff to deliver a better service and it will knockback any notion of the hospital losing services or being downgraded in any way." said Professor Murchan.

The new modular unit, a 3,300 sqm space, is linked to the existing hospital building by corridor and its spacious rooms, room specific equipment and modern layout is in stark contrast to the older parts of the hospital which dates back to 1850.

General Election confirmed for February 8th

Picture

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll be aware that a General Election has been called for February 8th 2020. Amongst all the speculation about the motivations for having the election fall on a Saturday during the 6 Nations, this week's Nationalist Newspaper has a full run down of the pool of candidates seeking election in Tipperary.  These include some new faces as well as some more familiar ones.  It gives some insight into the personalities and their main election issues, and is worth seeking out if you're unsure of who exactly is in the running.  Tainiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney said  “We have unfinished business in this constituency,” in Nenagh this Monday at the opening of an election office for Mary Newman Julian, which, he said, had turned into an election launch.  You can read the rest of this article at Tipperary Live by clicking the button below:
