6 Gift Ideas for the Holidays

The holidays are almost here, which also means it is almost that time when you wonder what to give your nearest and dearest for Christmas. I love to make handmade gifts for those on my list (because I equally enjoy the extra time in my sewing studio). Here are some ideas to make your gift giving fun for you and the receiver.

Happy Quilting!

For the Traveler: TGIF Tote is large enough to carry a week's worth of items to the beach that is calling this winter. You will love the many inside pockets, zipper and sturdy handles. It meets carry-on requirements so you can have your feet in the sand much quicker.

For the Foodie: An apron, hot pads, place mats and napkins are all quick and easy using the technique in I've Been Framed. These are also great for hostess gifts at Thanksgiving and New Year's.

For the Baby: Blocks with letters and numbers are quick to make and fun to play with, and the bag is also great for a quick pickup of toys. The book Six Halves Make a Whole Nursery also has several great quilts to choose from.

For the Netflix Watcher: Six Halves Make a Whole Lot More has 5 different quilts, plus a set of place mats, that all start with 6 half-yard cuts. Pick your favorite (Irish Mist is mine!) and make a special quilt to cuddle up in during their marathon of choice.

For the Quilter: Six Halves Make a Whole ZigZag and a roll-up of 6 half-yard cuts of Christmas fabrics make six wonderful place mats. Either you can make them or just gift the pattern and fabric for her to make. Why not make 2 sets and keep one for yourself!

For the Whole Family: It's time for new stockings! And the Stockings Were Hung is another great six halves pattern. Grab more roll-ups if you have a larger family. My family will be welcoming Number 100 just before the holidays, so I'm going to need lots of roll-ups.
