June 2020

Studio Life

Here in Vancouver we are enjoying some gentle lifting of our quarantine restrictions. This has given me a bit of faith and optimism in our future. Although I do have to admit that I am still finding it difficult to get into my studio and get to work.  Feeling like i'm spinning my wheels, jumping from one thing to another. Distracted by our garden which burst into bloom in May.  Once I look past the buttercups that have pretty much taken over I find great pleasure and am constantly inspired by the beauty around me. It turns out that you don’t have to look far to find inspiration - it’s all around us. I encourage you to stop, look and listen to what’s around you, you won’t be disappointed and you may even be inspired!

When I did get down to my studio I continued by exploration into figurative floral painting. There’s nothing like a new paint colour to get your creative juices flowing…. If you are an artist anyways. Progress is being made in this department and I’ll post some new work in June.

I filled and fired a bisque kiln with no explosions and blow outs…. Thank goodness! I’ll be busy staining and glazing this week and be ready to glaze fire by weeks end. Fingers & toes crossed and lots of praying to the kiln gods that all pieces survive. Then I’ll be photographing the new pieces, pricing and posting.

That should keep me out of trouble! No promises though 😊

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and creative June.  See you in July!
