Rhythms Newsletter June 2018 Let nothing disturb you, nothing frighten you. All things pass. God does not change. Patience achieves everything. Teresa of Avila Pathways Rhythm of Prayer, Work & Leisure Pathways seeks to be a place that honors the rhythm of work, prayer and leisure. We appreciate the groups that came to Pathways to help with the work in May from Bethany Christian Schools and Goshen High School. Two clergy groups were at Pathways the week before Pentecost for a day of rest and reflection. You are holy...I am holy...God is holy! A local church group came to Pathways for a Seven Sacred Pauses Retreat, coming away to live mindfully through the hours of the day. In July, Pathways enters Sabbath rest as the Pathways community takes a sabbatical from our rhythm of prayer and hosting group retreats. You are still welcome to contact us to arrange for an individual retreat in the cottage. As always, you are invited to walk the trails or sit in one of our wildflower meditation alcoves anytime from dawn to dusk without need of a reservation. Bethany students pose with our new sign board which welcomes guests to Pathways and helps them navigate their way. Mystic of the Month Teresa of Avila (1515-1582), a poet, administrator and religious reformer, was the foundress of 17 convents, the author of four books, and a deeply devotional Christian. This sixteenth century Carmelite was recognized in 1970 as a Doctor of the Church and was the first woman to be recognized as such. I am amazed by how much can be accomplished on this path by being bold and striving for great things. Even if a soul is not quite strong enough yet, she can still lift off and take flight. She can soar to great heights. But like a fledgling bird, she may tire herself out and need to perch for a while.
