Hello yet again to the membership at Jerome Country Club. I hope this newsletter finds you all well and in good spirits. Winter is starting to settle in and the golf course has certainly slowed down. The course has been winterized and in great shape going into the offseason. So don’t let slightly colder temperatures deter you from a round or two.
Dave Skinner has officially taken his seat on the board of directors. The board looks forward to working with Dave in the years to come. Dave is replacing Jeff Stevens who has done a great job for the club as our financial committee chairman over the last two years. I want to thank Jeff for his work. He has implemented many budgetary functions that will serve the club for years to come.
If you have been on the course recently you probably have noticed the new rock markers. Pete Cantor took charge in an effort to get this course improvement completed. I personally feel the rocks look fantastic. Pete did a great job getting these rocks at a very affordable price.
As most of you know, part of the winterization process is to place two pin placements on each hole. What some of you may not know is how to use the pin placements. The pin should actually remain in the hole you play to. The intention of the two holes is obviously to keep play from around one area of the green. However, if you move the pin to the other hole, a path begins to wear on the green to and from each placement. The pro shop will manage the changing of the pin placement.
The club is considering the purchase of new chairs for the clubhouse. The current chairs are almost twenty years old. I want to clear up how we would pay for the chairs if we decide to make the purchase. The funds to purchase new chairs would come from fundraising efforts. Over the past several years the club’s fundraising committee has been raising money to pay off the patio loan. That loan was paid off in 2016. Fundraising efforts will continue and the board will continue to seek improvement projects to which we will allocate funds. Chairs are among many facility improvement projects the club is considering. We are still pricing out our options.
The club’s annual meeting will be held on December 7th. I encourage all members to come. We will be recapping the club's finances and updating the membership on things to come in 2017.
That’s about it for this month. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Cheers!
