Adopt-a-Path Continues to Grow

Picture

In 2020, Chico Velo and the City of Chico identified 8 main Class I bike paths available for adoption throughout Chico. The objective of this program is to maintain bike paths and allow people easier access to them in order to encourage active commuting around our communities. Many of our residents and employees use the path to get to and from work and many more might, if they were more maintained.

Today we have 8 partners doing great work to maintain our local Class I bike paths. Thank you to the following groups for their personal time and care for our biking community!

Chico State C.A.V.E. - Campus Railroad Bike Path
Women on Wheels North Valley Ride Club - Airport Bike Path (Chico Nut to Lassen Ave.)
PAUL Component Engineering - Park Avenue Bike Path
Butte County Search & Rescue - Bikeway 99 (Wittmeier to Skyway)
Sierra Nevada Brewing Company - Bikeway 99 (Humboldt to East 20th Ave.)
Sustainable Revolutions - Airport Bike Path (East Lassen to Sikorsky Ave.)
Chico Rotaract - Bikeway 99 (Panama to Silverbell)
Klean Kanteen - Little Chico Creek Bike Path

Take Part in the Conversation

The City of Chico is developing an Environmental Justice Element for adoption into the 2030 General Plan. As we know, bicycling is, in its essence, climate justice. To encourage the City of Chico to make sound decisions for a more bike-able community, we encourage you to be involved in the following ways as an individual:

Participate in the surveys linked below. These will inform staff of the ways in which Chico residents are well served or underserved related to several environmental justice topic areas, including access to safe municipal biking infrastructure.

Attend one of the community engagement events this month. Held on June 6th at Chapman Park and June 23rd at Rotary Centennial Park from 6-8 pm. These events will give residents opportunities to learn about the Planning for Healthy Communities Act and contribute knowledge to the City’s understanding of existing conditions related to environmental justice.
