CMS Sprint play: auditions

Tuesday December 11th and Wednesday December 12th after school.

Click here to sign up for next week’s auditions:   https://www.pvtc-ca.org/cms-history. Auditions take place in groups of 10-12 — we do a warm-up together, which will include theater exercises and games.  Actors will also perform a memorized monologue or poem (no more than 1 minute).  For casting we look for confidence, clarity, expression, character choices, volume, risk taking, ensemble spirit, trying hard, and focus.  Our aim is that students have fun while gaining valuable audition experience.

Call backs will be on Monday December 17 and Wednesday December 18 after school; you will be notified if you are required to attend a call back and a sign-up link will be provided at that time via e-mail.

Student Tech Crew positions include stage managers, light board operator, sound board operator, backstage run crew, costume crew, and hair & makeup.  Students interested in Tech Crew will express their interest via the audition sign-up link:    https://www.pvtc-ca.org/cms-history.   Students interested in stage managing must attend rehearsals each week; those in other positions will need to attend a run-through rehearsal in March and all Final Rehearsals in April (see below).

Almost History will be performed at Woodside Priory School on Wednesday April 17 and Thursday April 18, 2019 (after Spring Break).  Rehearsals will run 2-3 times per week January through March after school at CMS from 3-5 p.m. (2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays).  Number of rehearsals per week will depend on student’s role.  Final Rehearsals will occur after Spring Break:  April 8-11 at CMS and April 15-16 at Priory.  No conflicts allowed for these final rehearsals in April and no conflicts allowed for the performances April 17 & 18.

There is NO COST to be part of the show.  We hope to cast every student who auditions, based on participation.

Looking for a way to spark curiosity, creative reasoning, and excitement about math? Math circles are joy-filled math explorations that build deep skills through discovery and play.

Note that Math Circles are NOT high-speed math competitions. They are a great fit for any child who wants to experience math through discovery, play, and problem solving, as well as creative thinkers who don’t usually like math.

Openings are available for a 2nd/3rd grade math circle beginning in January on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:45.

Instructor: Kelli Pearson is a dynamic teacher with more than 25 years experience and is well-known for her ability to make math creative and fun. For more information, please email [email protected] or visit artfulmath.com/math-circle.

WHS OPEN HOUSE REGISTRATION FOR SAT. JANUARY 26TH

Woodside High School will hold its annual Open House on Saturday, January 26, 2019, 9 am to 12 noon. Student led one-hour tours will showcase our fabulous campus and answer many prospective students’ questions about attending Woodside High School.  Tours leave every 10 minutes from the PAC (Performing Arts Center) and end at the MUR (Multi-use Room) to speak informally with academic and athletic program staff.  You must pre-register to guarantee your tour spot.

PALO ALTO BABE RUTH BASEBALL PREP SEASON REGISTRATION OPEN!

Palo Alto Babe Ruth Baseball invites you to register for our upcoming 2019 Prep Season. There are no tryouts or cuts, so every player who registers is guaranteed a spot to play in this season which runs from March to May. Our Prep Season is a developmental league designed to help younger players develop their skills on the full-sized diamond and prepare players for our 15U Season. It includes two weeks of preseason clinic-style practices, a player draft, and an eight week season featuring one practice and two games per week for each team culminating in a fun City Championship Tournament. The league features minimum playing time rules to allow all players a chance to play in each game.

The Prep League is open to all 7th and 8th graders, as well as any high school student not on a high school baseball roster. Full refunds are issued if a player makes his/her high school team and is unable to play Prep, so there is no risk in registering. Registration closes Feb 15, but $400 early-bird pricing ends Jan 1For more information, visit our website at www.pababeruth.org or contact Chris Lillios at [email protected].
