From Our President

Josh Hagley

Hello once again for another (and my last) installment of the JCC Newsletter. My term as president has come to an end. I have the upmost confidence I am leaving you in capable hands. Sharing the monthly club news has been a treat for me over the last 3 years and I am sure I’ll miss it from time to time. If you would like to hear any more club news or poorly worded jokes from me, I guess you will just have to find me in the club from now on.

The annual club meeting will be taking place on 12/5/2018. I encourage you all to attend as we will be voting on a couple of important items. We will also have our holiday party afterwards with light hors d’eouvers and refreshments supplied by the club. An annual meeting notice will be going out in the next couple of weeks with some of the agenda items. Also included in the notice will be a proxy form which will allow you to vote by proxy; through the board or a member of your choosing.

You may have noticed that we have moved a TV by the handicap posting kiosk. This TV will soon serve as a place for posting media, news, and events. This is something I have taken on over the last year. I have slacked a little bit in getting it operational, but it will soon be up and running. The TV will perpetually play the drone video we shot of the course this summer. We will also be able to post for events and other advertisements for the club. This will be a bit of a work in progress so let me know if there is anything you would like to see on it.

The board will be holding officer committee chair elections at the next board meet. The seats are not filled yet, but the candidates look to be unopposed. The next president will update you when the elections and committee chairs selections are complete in next month’s newsletter.

That is about it for me. It has truly been a privilege to serve as Jerome Country Club’s president over the last few years. I take pride in what the club has done and look forward to serving it in a new capacity. Until I see you again!

Don’t give up yet. Even late fall golf can be great. The golf course is still in beautiful condition thanks to Bart and the Maintenance Crew. With Summer (and Fall) Slowly coming to an end, Golf at the Jerome Country Club is a great way to spend a beautiful autumn afternoon.

The Golf shop still has a wide selection of merchandise. If you have some tournament credit left to spend or if there is an item you have had your eye on, Now is a great time to shop the JCC Pro Shop. Stop in and take advantage of fall discounts on golf bags, shoes, clothing and clubs.

The Annual Black Friday Christmas Sale in the golfshop will be Friday and Saturday Nov. 23-24.

The golfshop will be open thru November. The golf course will open at 9:00 if the conditions (frost) allow in November.

The Idaho Golf Association Handicap System will finish the Score Posting Season in Mid November. We will be recording scores for handicaps thru November 14th in Idaho. Those of you who play rounds in southern associations in the winter will continue to post scores in the winter.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Our Eclectic Tournament held the first week of September was a huge success. Ladies from all over the area joined in the play. There were several hole-in-one challenges among the many extra events. Thanks to our members who met under the direction of Patti Stumpf and Missy Wignall to make the tee prizes, Barb Reynolds who outdid herself with fantastic decorations and Pauline and Ray who provided a most delicious dinner and lunch. Most of all, thanks to our Chairwoman Marta LeMoyne. She orchestrated the entire event.

Golfers of the Month for September are: First Flight Sherry Marona; Second Flight Dee Dee Gott/Becky Hazen; Third Flight Norma Jensen; Nine Holers Janet Key/Naomi Stansell. Congratulations ladies! **Player of the Year will follow our October 3rd meeting.

At the General Meeting, October 3, at 9:30 am, there will be election of officers. The officers nominated are Marta LeMoyne President, MaryLou Alves/Dixie McClain Vice President, Diane Philbin Secretary, Babe Hansen Treasurer, Lari Hash Director and Rexann Wheeler Director.
