    During the 2018 year, our volunteers gave more than 46,000 hours of their time to help 21,000 households with groceries and 9,000 households with clothing.  Many of these families received personal care supplies, household items, diapers, layettes, school supplies and Christmas gifts.  Thanks to our dedicated volunteers and generous supporters, we have been helping families and individuals in need for 62 years now.

Community Support

    Good Neighbors greatly appreciates the continued support from Katie Swartz and ACME Fresh Market. They hold an annual Pack the Pantry Food Drive to benefit our food pantries and provide funding for our organization.

Goodyear Heights Community Outreach and Food Center

    Thank you to the residents at Tower 80 for the donations of household items; to Jim Callahan for the handmade wooden sign above the volunteer door; the Women's Board of the Summit County  Juvenile Court for the homemade blankets made by the children at the Juvenile Court; the Christ Child Society of Akron for the donations of layettes for the food center and Green Good Neighbors; Mr. Frank and the Howland Memorial Fund for the funds to purchase pet food;  Westminster Presbyterian Church for their monthly food donations and quarterly contributions; the Akron Public Schools and Jazz Hair Salon for the donations of groceries and personal care items; Catholic Charities for their financial support; Girl Scout Troop 90094 for their help sorting the food from the food drives; Boy Scout Troop 77 and Cub Scout Pack 3037 for donating more than 750 pounds of food; the Goodyear Heights Branch of the Summit County Library for the donations of books; the "Alpha Krappa" Widows Group for the donations of dish and laundry soap; St. Mark Lutheran's Church and the CROP Walkers for their financial contributions; and to Sharon Connor of the RIGHT Committee for her continued help and support.
    George Camilletti, Bill Sudduth, Mike Letta, Roger Reynolds, Phil MartucciMary Pallone Thornton, Jenny Siebert, Jean Dages-Wilkerson and Kathy Householder Morse continue to haul thousands of pounds of food every week from the food bank and other grocery stores to the food center. IBH continues to help with unloading large food orders. Valerie Straw coordinates the food drives to benefit the food center.
    The Walsh Jesuit High School Students, Archbishop Hoban High School Students, St. Vincent High School Students, University of Akron Nutrition Students, University of Akron Women's Basketball Players and Lowe's employees have been volunteering at the food center, their help is greatly appreciated. The Archbishop Hoban High School Students will be volunteering for two weeks in June for their JAM program. 
    Thanks to generous supporters, the lighting has been replaced with LED lights, the walk-in cooler has been repaired, the furnace and hot water tank have been replaced in the food center and office building.
    The food center's dedicated volunteers gave approximately 17,000 hours to serve 13,000 household during the 2018 year. From January through April of this year, they have served 4,000 households. 
    The food center is one of the largest food pantries in Summit County and open Monday through Friday from 12:00 - 3:00 pm, 52 weeks a year.

Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors

    During the 2018 year, their dedicated volunteers helped 3,982 families (10,695 individuals: 6,970 adults, 3,725 children) with groceries, clothing, household items, schools supplies and Christmas gifts. More than 500 families were helped during their Christmas Drive. They provided school supplies, new clothing and shoe vouchers to more than 375 children during their back to school drive.
    Last November, they served 77 families in one day during the 4 hours that they were open. From January through April of this year, they have served 1,047 families (2,673 individuals: 1,369 adults, 793 children). 
    They are in need of boys, girls, men and women summer clothing in all sizes. Donations may be dropped off on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Ellet Good Neighbors

    During the 2018 year, their dedicated volunteers helped 421 families (721 individuals: 490 adults, 231 children) with groceries and 674 families (1,365 individuals: 955 adults, 410 children) with clothing.
    From January through April of this year, they have helped 80 families with clothing and more than 100 families with groceries. They are open on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 am - 11:00 am.

Good Neighbors Goodyear Heights Clothing Unit

    They continue to see an increase in families and individuals visiting their new unit. They are open on Thursdays from 9:30 am until noon.

Green Good Neighbors

    When she is not busy volunteering at their unit, Patricia Stiles has been researching the history of Green Good Neighbors and the Greensburg United Methodist Church including the seminary and cemetery. She has been typing up all of the minutes of what Green Good Neighbors has done since they began 51 years ago. She said it has been a fascinating look back at the history. 
    During the 2018 year, their dedicated volunteers gave more than 10,126 hours to help 2,434 families (8,139 individuals: 5,204 adults, 2,866 children) with groceries and 2,434 families (8,545 individuals: 5,211 adults, 3,334 children) with clothing. They were able to help 150 families with school supplies and more than 300 families with Christmas gifts.
    From January through April of this year, they have helped 700 families with groceries, clothing and household items. They are open on Wednesdays from 9:00 am until noon.

Good Neighbors Superior-Wooster Clothing Unit

    From January through April of this year, their dedicated volunteers gave more than 400 hours to help 225 households (598 individuals: 236 adults, 157 children) with clothing and accessories.
    During the 2018 year, they have helped more than 600 families with clothing and back to school uniforms.
​    They continue to see an increase in families needing assistance. They are in need of personal care items for the families visiting their unit. They are open on Tuesdays from 9:30 am until noon.

Tallmadge Good Neighbors

    During the 2018 year, their dedicated volunteers gave more than 3,278 hours to help 732 families (1,714 individuals: 1,246 adults, 468 children) with groceries and 535 families (1,271 individuals: 865 adults, 406 children) with clothing. Many of these families were helped with school supplies and Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
    From January through April of this year, they have helped 117 families with clothing and 225 families with groceries. They are open on  Wednesdays from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.
