Please come and watch your wonderful children in the Junie B. Jones Jr. Musical on May 23rd @ 8.30AM and 6PM at Ormondale School! It will be a fantastic performance and the cast is working hard to prepare for the final show!

East Bay Video Core will record the show and can provide a DVD or a digital download of the performance. BUY THE VIDEO HERE 

And don't forget to walk through the school and check out all of the student's beautiful art work at the annual Art Walk!

LAST FEW EVENTS OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!

Please mark your calendars for the last few CMS events of the school year!

  • Friday, May 25th is CMS Field Day! Remind your student to dress for outdoor sports, and wear sunscreen!
  • Thursday, May 31st will be a super busy day, including:
    • 5-8th Grade BBQ Welcome 5th graders to this middle school tradition!! Please remember to cancel any hot lunch orders.
    • Walk to Washington from 2:30-3:00, the annual fundraiser for future 8th grade DC trips
    • Spring Art Show and Concert at 5:30 in the newly updated MUR.
  • Friday, June 1st is the final 6-8th grade dance from 7:00-9:00 in the MUR.

The Portola Valley Schools Foundation has a new job to fill. The Donations Administrator for the Portola Valley Schools Foundation (PVSF) is a new, paid position responsible for processing fundraising campaign contributions. This is a vital role for the organization and will work closely with our dynamic team of community volunteers to support the public schools in Portola Valley.

WINDMILL SUMMER PROGRAMS

Looking for a Fun Summer Program for your Preschooler?

Windmill Preschool in Portola Valley has openings available in their Summer School Program for 3 and 4 year olds. The program offers 5 weeks of summer fun from June 11th - July 19thProgram days are Monday-Thursday, 9:00am - 11:45am.

Each week we offer a different curriculum with activities centering on water, nature, building, and travel. Our summer program upholds our play-based philosophy and hands on learning through exploration and play.

Looking for a Wonderful Summer Camp for Your Incoming Kindergartener?

Windmill Day Camp is a great opportunity for children entering Kindergarten in the fall to meet other children who they may be in school with. The program meets Monday – Friday July 23rd-27th from 9:00am-2:00pm.

Our play-based activities will be planned around the theme of camping and summer fun! Day camp is for children who are age eligible for Kindergarten in the fall.

all students matter - volunteers needed sy 18-19

Classroom Volunteers Needed Next Year -- Grades K-5 in East Palo Alto and Eastern Menlo Park

Sign up now to begin volunteering in September to work with students in grades K-5 where you can make a real difference in their lives. You’ll go to the same classroom in East Palo Alto or eastern Menlo Park once a week, for about an hour, during the school year to help with reading or math. You’ll have a real impact in a community where over 80% of students are performing below grade level. All Students Matter provides training and coordinates everything. This pledge is gaining a lot of momentum in neighboring communities as well as nationwide (your child can still have a phone and be part of this pledge).

This year we proudly celebrate 50 years of AYSO Region 25’s youth soccer program for kids from Portola Valley, Ladera, Woodside, Emerald Hills and La Honda, providing quality soccer skills training in a supportive, player friendly environment.  

We’ll have pre-announced practice days and times for the younger age groups so parents can plan ahead for Fall activities, separate U9 and U10 age groups interlinked with Menlo Park for more varied game-day competition, drop-in skills'n drills clinics with professional UK International soccer coaches, group trips to Stanford soccer games, and more!

Teen Meditation and Mindfulness Classes

SafeSpace is please to announce free Teen Mediation and Mindfulness classes taught by Julie Brody on Thursdays from 6-7 pm at the SafeSpace Community Engagement Center, 708 Oak Grove Ave. in Menlo Park.

These weekly workshops run through May 24. Please register through Eventbrite.

Safespace is a non-profit based in Menlo Park dedicated to teen mental health and also has a number of spring workshops covering issues such as middle to high school transition, dealing with rejection, managing anxiety and more.

Kidizens summer camps: Young Mayors - Build and Run Your Own LEGO City

Would you like to build and be the Mayor of an entire city of LEGOs?

Would you like to leverage your child’s love of LEGOs to help them learn critical real-life, 21st-century skills and strategies?

Kidizens inspires students to become good citizens and future leaders, one LEGO brick at a time. During our excitement-packed Bay Area LEGO Summer Camps, kids plan and create their own small civilization, thereby developing real-life skills and strategies.The Kidizens Summer Program includ es intensive action and excitement-packed sessions, where children partner as Young Mayors to build, inhabit, manage and govern their own LEGO cities. In a highly immersive and collaborative environment, children learn critical 21st century and leadership skills while role-playing and having fun in a universe built of LEGOs and dealing with natural disasters, resident problems and financial crises.

Summer Tennis camp at alpine hills

This summer, Alpine Hills is offering six weeks of Junior Summer Tennis Camp. All ages and levels are welcome! We will have both a half day camp (for beginner and intermediate players) and a full day camp (for competitive and advanced players).
