WELCOME EMBERLY LIETZ

Emberly Lietz

We are thrilled that Emberly Lietz has joined our team as Development Director!

Emberly is a proud graduate of the University of North Dakota and a dedicated advocate for humanity, community, and business. She has a diverse background in volunteerism and extensive experience in member and donor relations, fundraising, and event planning.

Emberly has served as executive director of the Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce, membership director at The Chamber - Grand Forks/East Grand Forks, and director of development at CVIC. Through her new role as Development Director at the Community Foundation, Emberly remains committed to driving impactful initiatives and fostering positive change in her community.

In addition, Emberly owns and operates The Lake House Retreat in Erskine, MN, and is embracing a new phase of life as a “downtowner” in Grand Forks and an empty nester of four incredible adult children.

Emberly would be thrilled to discuss ways for your organization to promote your endowment fund or, if your nonprofit does not yet have a fund, establish your own endowment to support your organization in perpetuity and offer important tax credit benefits to your donors.

SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR FUNDING

  • The Brockman Feldman Family Fund seeks to increase the reach and accessibility of academic extracurricular activities in Grand Forks, Walsh, and Polk Counties. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
  • The mission of the Women’s Fund Grant Program is to provide ideas, energy, and resources so that girls and women are empowered to achieve economic, social, and political equity. The program seeks applications from eligible entities for programming support grants. Preference may be given to new projects or programs and/or new grant applicants. ​Grants are ​typically awarded in the $5,000 range. Applications close August 14.
  • The Community Opportunity Grant Program provides $5,000 programming grants to improve the quality of life in our region in the areas of community and human services, environmental sustainability, and human rights. Preference may be given to new projects or programs and/or new grant applicants. Applications close August 14.

Are you ready to enhance your leadership skills, connect with inspiring women, and lead the way to lasting change in your community? Now is the time to plant those seeds! 

Applications are now open for the Women's Fund Leadership Academy through July 29th. This year's theme is "Ready, Set, Grow," and we're thrilled to embark on this journey of growth and empowerment with you.

The Academy, held annually each fall, selects a cohort of applicants (age 18 and older) residing within Grand Forks, Walsh, or Polk County to take part in 24 to 38 hours of free, in-depth leadership training geared toward personal and professional development. Examples of sessions include the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment, personal brand development, meaningful mentorship, and financial readiness.

​You’re likely aware that the recently-released Giving USA report for 2023 reveals that while charitable giving in the U.S. increased to $557.16 billion, the increase failed to keep pace with inflation. When adjusted for inflation, total giving declined by 2.1% year-over-year.

​​A recent study sheds light on how high net-worth people who’ve made their own money tend to approach philanthropy. As it turns out, self-made millionaires are more likely to give to charity than those who inherited their wealth – a whopping 93% reported doing so. People with legacy wealth are still likely to be philanthropic, but only 74% reported that they give to charity.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION HOURS
Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 10am to 4pm. Meetings are by appointment. We keep remote hours on Fridays from 10am to 4pm and are available by phone and email.
