Doctor Phil Berry, an organ recipient, started this tournament in 1994 to support transplant recipients with any postoperative needs, so they could focus on recovery. In its 26th year, the tournament is expanding its focus and partnering with the Outlive Yourself Foundation which invests in community education about organ donation, care for organ donor families and transplant recipients, and advancement in organ transplant science. The Outlive Yourself Foundation was created by Southwest Transplant Alliance (STA) to honor and support the gift of life through organ donation.
