Hello fellow members of Jerome Country Club. I hope this newsletter finds you well and in good spirits. I can’t believe it is November already! Unfortunately, the 2016 golf season is getting closer to the end. The good news is a new fiscal year is upon the club. We can safely look back at 2016 and say it was a success. The club was able make several improvements to the facilities and we are in a good position to begin 2017.
On that note, the 2017 budget has been approved by the board of directors. Our budget is projected to be similar to the actual 2016 results. The board is continually exploring ways to increase revenue and limit expenses. However, costs continue to rise and we are constantly looking at ways to minimize those costs to the members. Overall the club is in a great financial position and we are confident about the future!
The club’s annual meeting will be held on December 7th this year. We will be sending out special notices to the membership as a reminder. I encourage all members to come to the meeting. We will be recapping the club’s operations and finances over the year. The annual meeting is a great opportunity to get caught up to speed with the operations of the club and catch up with other members.
I think that we still have some great golf left in Southern Idaho for the remainder of the year. The course is still in wonderful condition. Our head superintendent, Bart Brandell, has done his fall fertilizer applications on the course. The green crew has also made several other improvements around the course this fall. One feature you will see on the course over the next few months are new hole markers. Keep an eye out for them; I think you will like what you see!
In light of the upcoming presidential election I thought I would introduce a couple of new club rules for your consideration. The first new rule we will call a “Donald”. A “Donald” happens when you don’t keep score and tell everyone you broke 70. If anyone questions your score, just say, “It was really, really good, trust me folks.” The other rule we should consider will be called a “Hillary”. A “Hillary” can be taken if you hit the ball out of bounds or in the water. If you take a “Hillary” you don’t have to take penalty strokes as long as you didn’t “intend” to hit the ball OB or in the water. If questioned on this rule, just say, “At this point, what difference does it make?” That is about all I have for you this month. Until next time……………….
Cheers!
