Editor's Note: A quick apology! We usually publish our newsletter about a week before our next meeting. Our web media provider decided that was a good time for a week of login issues. So this is sending about 3 hours before our 7pm meeting. If you feel like joining us tonight, details are below...  | |
As we have just finished Thanksgiving, we have a lot to be thankful for at Franklin Gear Makerspace! We have great board members and excellent volunteers willing to share their skills with their community.
But that does not mean there is no room for you! To the contrary, we are going to need a lot of support as we push toward an early 2022 opening! (see below).Â
Regardless of your assumed skill level, there are many ways to help. And I am willing to bet that you'll be surprised at what you can do. You are likely more capable than you thought. Let's find that out together!

Colby is the epitome of making! Webster's Dictionary should have a picture of Colby for their definition of "maker". | |
Colby has been creating, and adding value to our Community, since a young age. His best know work "Kayak Man" greats visitors to Downtown Franklin, with occasional costume changes to meet the moment. He stands guard over Franklin's iconic Trestle Bridge and the gateway to Mill City Park!
Just a few of the many faces of Kayak Man
Colby's diversity of skills is further on display in Marceau Park near Vulgar Brewery. It is such an awesome piece it adorns the cover of the Franklin Gear Makerspace Brochure.
| |
His Eagle Scout project has welcomed folks to Franklin for years!
These are just a few of Colby's many art projects. Imagine what Colby will do with the tools at Franklin Gear!!!
once we sign the lease we'll:
put down a new floor.
put up a few walls
run some electrical
Install security
paint some stuff...
