September Updates I first wanted to welcome all the new Fellow Phoenixes to the mailing list-thrilled to have you guys here and be part of the Newsletter! WELCOME EVERYONE! Fredo Hernández News about Fredo I will be traveling out of state to New Orleans with my immediate family for a much needed vacay and I'm thrilled about this because New Orleans has been on my personal bucket list for years and to now be able to share that with my best friends, my immediate family, is so incredibly special. I will be gone from September 19th through September 22nd and there will be tons of photos & videos on Facebook so if we're connected there, keep an eye out for the media! Selling Once Again! It's sure been a journey on this road to selling. I don't know if everyone knows but when I first started sculpting I was selling my pieces in 2014, or, trying to. I didn't make any mentionable sales to speak of and then that dreaded Artist's self-criticism reared it's ugly head forcing me to stop selling as I didn't think my pieces were good enough to put out there, they weren't up to my standards for being "good"-we all know or have experienced that story. So now, after going through many trials & tribulations, beating myself up about "not being good enough", taking drastic action to better my skill-level, I am now at a point where my self-confidence in my work has improved and I now, after 3.5 years, am comfortable enough to start selling again in the hopes that my Artdolls will bring joy & inspiration to others. Preparations are underway to list several recent Artdolls for sale and as Fellow Phoenixes you will be the first to know when they will go up for sale and where! I have provided links to the gallery pages of each sculpture that will be up for sale below for your convenience. Just click on the photo of the desired Artdoll. So if you guys have someone interested in any of these pieces feel free to give them a heads up and make them aware of the Newsletter so they can get these email notifications like you and join our Phoenix following! Frey'Dez Tip! I just realized something today; getting "saved searches" emails from eBay is super useful. Q: Are you struggling with pricing your artwork to value yourself, your Artdoll and your commitment to the creation process? A: Follow this little How-To I created below to get emails from eBay on the search terms you designate and compare the Artdolls from those search results to see how much those artists are charging so you can better gauge where your skill-level falls as far as pricing then price accordingly. International Art Doll Registry's September Pin-Up Member Show I had previously committed to entering the remaining International Art Doll Registry Member shows for 2017 which I still plan on doing but for September's show I will not make the deadline-sigh! I still only have a completed armature-blah! Several distractions this month; I've started working out 7 days a week immediately after work which takes up a good chunk of time, I will be moving later October but have been making preparations for the move and with my week-long trip to New Orleans this month there's not enough time to finish my submission. So sad. BUT , I am still gonna finish her and I have a pretty neat idea involving a shadow box so stay tuned for that down the line! I am fired up for IADR's November Mythology Show... and man do I have an ambitious project picked out for that, and guess what! I'm gonna tell you because you're a fellow Phoenix! I'm Also still working on my Zekeltig AniFusion which a Frey'Dez Creations Original; he's a cross between a White Tiger, a Zebra, an Eagle and an Elk. That's where the name "AniFusion" comes in. It's an animal "fusion." So, I have chosen to make a Mythological creature called The Peryton , a mythological hybrid animal combining the physical features of a stag and a bird. But of course I'm going to give it my own spin and it will be a morph sculpture so it will have the torso of a Man with the antlers of a Stag! I'm also still working on completing an African American Mermaid called the "The Modest Mermaid" which will have Auburn hair, a Turquoise tail and Carmel skin (Cernit clay). Should look great! At least in my mind it does, haha. Once Upon A Steampunk Time 2018 Live Seminar with Deb Wood Many, if not all of you, already know that I will be attending yet another LIVE Deb Wood sculpting retreat in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in the gorgeous home of Adele Sciortino in April 2018! My goodness is it always amazing, memorable times. I've never before sculpted a Steampunk piece so this should be fun as it will be a first for me. Wanna know what it's like to attend one of Deb & Adele's live classes? It's sure been a journey on this road to selling. I don't know if everyone knows but when I first started sculpting I was selling my pieces in 2014, or, trying to.
