LIFESTYLE TIPS

EARTH DAY EVENT

We have a lot of wonderful things in store for you all this weekend!

Advocates from Green Compass will be here to provide education on CBD products for the whole family.

Kids activities will be provided including: watercolor painting with foraged flowers; sun catcher/wind chime creation with foraged natural elements; and a seed planting activity.

We will have a variety of different sized containers for DIY herb gardens. I will be there to help you build your ideal herb container. This activity is first-come first-serve, and   requires payment before building.

Our meet-and-greet with local holistic health professionals will include the following: life coach, functional health practitioner, health coach, sauna + cold plunge therapy business, physical therapists, Bowen work practitioner, Physiotherapist, and Pre-/Post-Natal chiropractors.

As always, you are welcome to stay and hang out with us for the day. We ask that you stay within the area of the store, barn and cabin, as we are on private property. Pets are welcome, but must be leashed and cleaned up after.

SIMPLE ACTS TO BE MORE EARTH-FRIENDLY

There are so many simple things you can do on a daily basis to live a more sustainable life.

Here are some of the things we do:

  • Harvest Water - Dehumidifiers, HVAC units, and rain are often wasted water supplies. We use the filtered water from our dehumidifier in our clothes washing machine. We collect rain water in buckets and rain barrels to water our plants and fill birdbaths.
  • Eliminate Single-Use Items - Water bottles, shopping bags, food storage containers and covers are all things that have reusable versions. In this day and age, there is no need for plastic bottles, bags and films. (PS: bottled water has a 4,000% mark up)
  • Save Electricity - Referred to as "energy vampires", some devices use energy even though you think they are turned off. Phone/computer chargers are one, and we unplug ours every morning. Another is your TV, DVD player, etc. We have ours plugged into a power strip that we turn off when we are not using them.
  • Act Natural - When it's summertime, the temperature in your house shouldn't be in the 60s, and in the winter it shouldn't be in the 80s. We adjust our clothing, not our thermostat.

Fact of the Week: When you buy organic food, pasture-raised meat/dairy, and natural and cruelty-free household and personal care items, you eliminate: the harmful use of more machines and their emissions; harsh unnecessary chemicals and the facilities and energy it takes to make them; pollutants from entering ecosystems; and the culture of cruelty toward other living beings. Buying organic/natural isn't just about your health. It is also about the health of our planet.
